A great base for exploring the western reaches of the Isle of Wight, this cosy single-level getaway is ideal for a couple looking for a peaceful spot in idyllic surroundings. Set in the centre of a picturesque village, this cosy cottage has a charming view of the thatched church and makes a lovely base for long rural and coastal walks. It is also close to many of the island's popular attractions, including the Needles and Tennyson Down.

There's a pretty dining area, and the kitchen has a range of equipment so you can prepare your favourite meals. The double bedroom is a step down from the lounge, and is a light and fresh space which opens onto the decked area outside. There is a step up from the bedroom into the modern en-suite shower room with shower cubicle and WC. The enclosed courtyard features the decked area, sun terrace and garden furniture, and is ideal for relaxing with a drink and taking in the beautiful views.

Famous for its links to the 19th-century poet Tennyson, the pretty village of Freshwater is a fantastic base for exploring this part of the island. The village has a fine selection of places to eat and drink, as well as attractions such as the Dimbola Museum and the Freshwater Bay Golf Club. Other local places to visit include Tapnell Farm Park (2.5 miles), and Mottistone Gardens and Estate (4.5 miles).
