Filled with original charm, this tastefully converted Methodist chapel offers a memorable getaway on the Isle of Wight.

This Methodist chapel was built in the1800s and has been converted into a unique cottage. It stands on the outskirts of the pretty village of Brighstone, on the south west coast of the island. The village is renowned for its lovely church, thatched cottages, village shops and public house. Visitors can walk directly from the cottage and join footpaths to the beach at Chilton Chine (two miles). There are a series of small bays on this beautiful west side of the island for swimming, fishing and boat trips. Nearby Compton Bay is good for surfing and the area is also renowned for its fossils. This is a fantastic walking and cycling area with cycle routes and footpaths crossing the nearby downs and wonderful walks along the coastal path to Tennyson Down and The Needles.

The Old Chapel is a detached property which has been skilfully converted to retain the atmosphere of the building, but at the same time provide light and attractive accommodation. The chapel windows are an impressive feature of the property. It is centrally heated and has been furnished and equipped with care. The striking old chapel door opens into a small hallway and into the dramatic dining area with its vaulted ceiling. This is part of a large open plan living area which extends across the length of the building. On the further side there is a relaxing sitting room with sofas and chairs, an attractive flame effect gas fire, television with DVD player and Freeview. French doors open into the garden. There is a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. A washing machine is also provided, and there is a ground floor cloakroom with a W.C. and basin.

A cherry wood staircase ascends to an elegant galleried landing with seating. Here, there are also two bedrooms; one twin room and a double bedroom with an en-suite W.C. and basin, plus a family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and W.C. A travel cot and high chair can be provided for an additional child. Heating and electricity are without extra charge. WiFi internet is provided.

The Old Chapel has a pretty, fenced south facing garden at the rear of the property. There is a secluded terrace lawn and shrubberies, plus a gazebo with garden furniture. One car can be parked in the drive. A rural bus service is within a few minutes walk. Nearby places to visit include Carisbrooke Castle, the Needles Battery and Blackgang Chine Adventure Park.

Fantastic property! Great location, so quiet at night! Fascinating place to stay, loved reading about the conversion, wish we had time to visit the place where the pews etc are now located. Never made use of the garden as we was always out, lovely seating areas and a virtual suntrap.

We were worried at first even though reading the positive reviews for the old chapel, before we arrived. But we were very impressed by the high standard of cleanliness and the actual chapel/decor. A great location and very peaceful. Did not want to leave!! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
