Elevated above the sea, it is a two-minute walk down to the beach where swimming, paddling, boating and fishing can be enjoyed. Ventnor is a charming resort on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight - renowned for its mild climate and botanical garden. The promenade overlooking the beach has a variety of cafes and restaurants, plus a public house beside the sea. At the far side of the beach is a picturesque harbour with fishing boats and fresh fish including lobster and crab.
The Lookout occupies the entire upper floor of a large house. Steps lead to an external door which opens from the side of the property giving direct access to the entrance hall. Internal steps take you up to the main floor of this spacious apartment which provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for six guests in three bedrooms. It is centrally heated and the sea facing windows are double glazed. There is a large open plan sitting room with three picture windows offering panoramic views across the sea and Ventnor Bay - a wonderful spot to relax and watch the boats passing by, particularly during the Round the Island Race. The sitting room includes a dining area and is furnished with a sofa, arm chairs, a High definition Smart television with Freeview/Blu-ray and DVD player. There are three bedrooms - a master bedroom with open sea views; a second spacious double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with built in shower, basin and WC; a twin bedroom; a family bathroom with a bath, hand shower, separate built in shower, basin and WC; a well-equipped fitted kitchen with a tiled floor, electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Central heating, electricity and Wi-Fi internet are available without extra charge. A folding bed can be provided on request to sleep an additional child in one of the bedrooms.
Parking for one car is provided in the drive. A weekly permit can be purchased for parking in the car park just above the seafront which is a short walk away. The shopping centre of Ventnor town is within a 10 minute walk. Here, there a variety of places to eat and boutique style shops. Also nearby is a tennis court, bowling green and Ventnor gardens. The coastal path is just below the property and it is a pleasant 15-minute walk to Steephill Cove with its attractive bay and fish restaurants. The fact that Steephill Cove cannot be accessed by car gives this coastal hamlet a tranquil atmosphere. Ventnor Botanical Garden is just to the side of the cove. Alternatively, visitors can walk eastward to Bonchurch and onwards along the charming coastal path to the resorts of Shanklin and Sandown.
Please be aware that children need to be closely supervised in the property as the large picture windows in the sitting room and master bedroom are low level and can be opened right back from a side hinge. When young children are in the property it is important that the windows are only opened by a secondary mechanism which means the windows lean out from a bottom hinge to provide fresh air. There are also safety locks on the windows.
