Property code: IC146

Attractive former-coach house sleeping two guests, situated alongside four other holiday cottages on the owner’s farm just outside the village of Godshill in the south-east of the Isle of Wight.

The Coach House is situated on the South East side of the Island in an attractive farm courtyard, with ancient Grade II listed barns and a traditional farmhouse which dates back to the 17th Century. Sainham Farm occupies a picturesque position, lying at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down and above the picture-postcard village of Godshill in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This village is renowned for its church and pretty thatched cottages. It has a variety of teashops and restaurants, as well as a public house where meals can be enjoyed. The sandy beaches of Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor are only a fifteen-minute drive away.

The Coach House is a stone cottage adjacent to a bridleway which leads through the woods to Godshill. The cottage is centrally heated and has been furnished and equipped with care. It has a large double bedroom with an en-suite shower room at ground floor level. A staircase leads from the front door and lobby to a spacious open-plan studio where there is a comfortable sitting room with a sofa and flat screen television with Freeview and a DVD player; a dining area and a fitted kitchen which is equipped with a electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. A stable door opens out from here at first floor level onto steps which lead down to the bridle path.

There is a small garden area at the front of the cottage with a table and chairs so that meals can be enjoyed outside. There is also a lovely communal area of garden within a two-minute walk of the cottage with garden furniture. Wifi internet connection is available. There is parking space for one car at the front of the cottage. The close proximity of the cottage to the Stenbury Trail makes the cottage an ideal base for walkers. A regular bus service along with popular public houses, restaurants and shops are within ten minutes walk.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely little cottage; one of a few on the farm but set in a corner, so feels nice and private. V quiet at night; during the day the only noises are from wildlife, walkers & horses on the bridleway that runs by the house. A 10-15 minute country walk into Godshill, a quaint village with a few pubs and tea rooms - bring a torch for post-dinner returnRead more. Good base for exploring the IoW by car & doing local walks, e.g. ~1km walk to the obelisk up the hill - ideal for seeing the stars on a clear night! Hide

Everything was clean and tidy. There was plenty of information available about the cottage and local attractions. The cottage was in a lovely tranquil setting, but close to the nearest village. A lovely rural retreat.

The cottage was perfect for us and our spaniel, with direct access to a bridal way and short walk into the village of Fossil with its pubs and restaurants. Greg who looked after the property was most helpful and friendly. The cottage had all we needed and was very comfortable and we would return next time we visited the I of W.
