Handsome barn conversion property offering spacious accommodation for up to ten guests, enjoying a peaceful location surrounded by attractive countryside on the owner’s Dorset farm.

The Cart House is situated on the 3000 acre Trigon Estate. It is one of three cottages in a peaceful rural hamlet with walks directly from the house. The Saxon town of Wareham is within two miles - here there are shops, public houses, restaurants and a river where rowing, fishing and boat trips can be enjoyed. On the outskirts of Wareham there are two golf courses, and within five minutes drive Arne; an RSPB protected site - a wonderful spot for bird watching and viewing deer beside this idyllic part of Poole Harbour. The picturesque village of Corfe Castle with its ancient castle and picturesque stone cottages is within seven miles, and the sandy beach of Swanage is within ten miles.

This property has, as its name suggests, been converted from the original cart house for the Trigon estate and it dates back to 1850. It is built with an attractive combination of brick and wood with lovely large windows. It has a light and airy feel with tiled and wooden floors downstairs and fitted carpets upstairs. On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with a stone fireplace, wood burning stove, comfortable sofas, television with DVD player and FreeSat; a spacious open plan fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine; a pleasant dining area with a long oak table beside a floor to ceiling window which comfortably accommodates ten people; a double bedroom with French doors opening into the garden, plus a family bathroom equipped with bath, overhead shower, basin and WC.

A wooden staircase leads up from the living room to three further bedrooms; a double bedroom with a king-size bed, a twin room and a single room, plus a shower room with built in shower, basin and WC. A further first floor double bedroom in situated in a brick built annex within only a few paces across the garden from the main house. Here, there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with WC and basin. The annex is heated by efficient electric wall heaters. In the main house the ground floor is heated with thermostatically controllable electric radiators. Upstairs there are wall mounted electric radiators and additional radiators heated by the wood burning stove. A wooden cot, high chair and folding bed can be provided if required. Telephone available. WiFi available at no extra charge, but please note that due to the rural location of the property the internet can be slightly intermittent.

The Cart House has beautiful gardens of almost an acre. It is open plan at the front of the house and there is a secluded garden at the rear, with a small terrace and large areas of lawn which are surrounded by bushes and trees. Garden furniture, a parasol and a barbecue are provided so that visitors can enjoy meals in the sunshine. Three to four cars can be parked in the drive. Bus service and trains to London and Weymouth are available from Wareham.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The house was fabulous, and the garden was huge and isolated meaning my grandson had plenty of room to run and play and my daughters could sunbathe to their hearts content. The house was spotlessly clean with all the mod cons. The bedrooms were large airy and the beds extremely comfortable. We did not want to leave.

The location was lovely - quiet and close to excellent walks in Wareham forest however we arrived to find the metal dustbins full to overflowing with rubbish scattered around the front garden where we assume animals had been scavenging. we waited until tuesday for the bin emptying day but nothing happened until we phoned the housekeeper to get it sRead moreorted - she arranged for the bins to be emptied and said collection day had changed, but the folder had not been updated Hide

The cottage is in a beautiful location and very quiet. If you want peace this is the best place to stay lots of walks which were great for the dog. You have to remember that this is an old cottage and you need to expect cob webs etc. We saw deer and at night if you stood on the patio you could see bats flying around. Lovely out of the way but convenient spot close to Wareham. Access down an unmade track Comfy beds Comprehensive info folder & leaflets. Very well equipped, even had food for the birds. be careful with dogs and small children - garden NOT enclosed and has small pond on one side in bushes but great space for games/relaxing. Lovely cottage in the middle of Wareham Forest. Perfect for our party of 10. We had everything we needed apart from a hairdryer, a very minor point. Please insure that you read all the instructions regarding the cottage so that things like the occasional coloured water don't surprise you. Four generations shared the cottage for a week; it was comfortable with room enough for us all. The kitchen was well equipped and there is ample parking. My only advice to dog owners looking to rent this cottage is that there is no secure outside area; the garden is unfenced. Having said that, we and the dogs had a great holiday

We stayed at The Cart House for a long weekend with all the family for Grandad's 60th birthday. We all had a lovely time & the cottage was situated in the middle of some lovely countryside with good walks for the dogs. We all feel there is far more to do & see in the area than we had time for & plan to visit again next year.

The location is a perfect get away - just three properties down a hard to find track. The garden is spacious and the double beds are really comfy. The kitchen has all that you need in terms of pots and pans, plates etc. Basic cleaning stuff was left for us (as well as milk and a packet of biscuits). The heating and showers were a bit tricky to get Read moreright. Great for early morning stomps through the woods and for family time. Lovely location and cottage was all I could have hoped for. Deer in the garden and squirrels running around what more could you want ! In short driving distance of many beautiful beaches.
