Just a stone’s throw from the quiet beach at Freshwater Bay, this self-contained apartment is perfect for a relaxing and romantic coastal getaway on the Isle of Wight.

Tennyson's View stands within a two-minute walk of the beach at Freshwater Bay - a tranquil bay where swimming, paddling, fishing and kayaking can be enjoyed. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are spectacular views of Tennyson Down from the balcony which extends along the length of the property. Visitors are also welcome to relax in the communal garden which sits above The Esplanade, with panoramic views across the bay. Tennyson's View is immediately adjacent to the coastal path and miles of scenic footpaths, with awe-inspiring coastal views and can be walked directly from the front door. The trails extend westwards across Tennyson Down to the Needles or eastward to St Catherine's Lighthouse on the southern tip of the island. This area of coastline is protected by the National Trust and is one of the most picturesque areas on the Island. An 18-hole links style golf course where visitors are welcome, enjoys stunning views over the Solent and English Channel and is within a five-minute walk. The sandy bays of Totland and Colwell are within a five-minute drive and fossil hunting, surfing and paragliding can be enjoyed nearby. Cycling is also a major activity here with rides over the downs, and links with a network of cycle paths.

Tennyson's View, built in 2000 on the site of a small hotel, is the wing of a larger property divided into self-contained apartments with communal gardens on the seaward side. It has its own front door and balcony gateway and the accommodation is all on one level. The property has been furnished and equipped with care to provide an attractive and comfortable place to stay for two people. It is centrally heated and double glazed. There is a spacious open-plan living room with a comfortable sofa, television with DVD player and double doors opening on to the balcony; an attractive dining area with open views through the double doors: a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer; a bedroom with a king size bed and fitted wardrobes; a shower room with walk in shower, basin and WC. Central heating and electricity is at no extra charge.

A stunning balcony extends along the length of the property, where visitors can unwind and eat meals. Here you can catch glimpses of the sea and downs whilst listening to the relaxing sounds of the sea which is so close by. Garden furniture is provided for dining out on the balcony and in addition, deck chairs are available for use in the communal garden which overlooks Freshwater Bay. There is a private parking space for one car at the side of the property - access is without steps. A public house, cafe and tea shop are within five minutes walk; a general store and restaurant are within ten minutes walk. The small town of Freshwater is only a few minutes drive away and here there are a variety of shops, two small supermarkets and a great selection of public houses.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

My wife and I found this to be an excellent holiday apartment. On arrival we found it immaculate. The level of decor and furnishings is very good. The bed could be larger, maybe a king size as I am quite large and it was a bit tight. The TV signal is very poor and maybe satellite should be considered. A cosy and comfortable apartment for two in a good position with sea views from the balcony. It is furnished in a contemporary style and well equipped with all mod cons. Well appointed for enjoying the beach and sea sports, local walks and eating places, and is a great base for exploring all the Island has to offer.

The property is in a quiet position right on the beach. There is a small shop and nice cafe ( Pipers) about five minute walk away. The property was very comfortable and well equipped - no wi-fi but we learnt to live without it for a week. We would certainly visit again.

Light, airy and clean, backs on to cliff path and easy steps down to beach. Balcony at front faces west (sunsets) and overlooks local community and road, Tennyson down in middle distance. This is an ideal getaway for just two people to enjoy a twin-aspect balcony with stunning views overlooking Freshwater Bay looking towards Tennyson Down. It features a roomy entrance hall with generous rooms off and bathroom with walk-in shower. Well equipped throughout and simply loads of storage space!

The cottage is clean, spacious and well equipped. It does have a view of Tennyson Down but the sea view is partially blocked by an adjoining property and the lifeboat station. The apartment was at the best spot. A 15 min drive to the nearest supermarket, only 30 mins from Queen Victoria 's Palace. The beach was a stone threw from the apartment. It was beautiful, relaxing and I had the best stay EVER. I would highly recommend this apartment and I will be returning.
