This pretty, Grade II listed thatched cottage is nestled amongst beautiful countryside, within 3.5 acres of grounds. Perfect for a cosy retreat for couples or small families.

This pretty thatched cottage with leaded light windows stands in rolling countryside, only a few minutes walk from Calbourne Water Mill. The cottage was designed by John Nash as a lodge for Westover Manor and is a Grade II listed building with magnificent grounds of three and a half acres. This is a spectacular walking area with footpaths very close to the cottage leading to Newbridge Calbourne and to the downs above Brighstone, linking with the renowned Tennyson trail to Freshwater Bay. The golden beaches and tranquil coves of Brighstone Brook and Freshwater are all within a 10 to 15 minute drive. The market town of Newport and Carisbrooke Castle are also within a ten-minute drive.

Sweetwater Lodge provides attractive accommodation, furnished and equipped with care. It has a hexagonal shaped fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, slim line dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine; a spacious open plan sitting room with comfortable sofas, flat screen television/Freeview/DVD player; a dining area beside a window; a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and two windows overlooking the garden; a twin bedroom; a spacious bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and W.C. Central heating and electricity is without extra charge. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. (Children need to be closely supervised due to the proximity of the stream and pond. Fires, candles or barbecues are not permitted due to the thatched roof).

Immediately beside the cottage is an enclosed, south facing courtyard with garden furniture. Nearby, there is also a summer house for visitors use. The large grounds of the lodge are enchanting with lawns, beautiful woodland, an attractive pond and glittering stream. Two/three cars can be parked in the drive. The Lodge is set back from the road which provides a link between Freshwater and Newport. The public house at Calbourne and the tea shop/pottery at Chessell are both just a two-minute drive away. A bus service is not available nearby.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Very attractive cottage with a lovely patio area and big well maintained back garden. Well equiped kitchen and comfortable lounge/dining room. Good sized main bedroom and bathroom. Good location for seeing the west of the Isle of Wight. No wifi and some road noise.

Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous well kept location. Everything we could wish for and more. Spent a lovely week on the Island and would definitely book the same cottage if we went back for another holiday.

Having chosen a property with all ground floor accommodation, it was a disappointment to find the rather large step from lounge to bathroom/bedrooms which was difficult for disabled husband. Rear garden was idyllic but the road noise to the front was noticeable!SELECTED!.!ENDOFSELECTED!

Wow! The cottage was a real fairytale cottage and the grounds were incredible. A great location, our holiday was as perfect as could be as there is no guarantee on the good old British weather! There was every facility catered for in the cottage and very comfortably furnished. Would definitely recommend Sweetwater Lodge for the perfect place to staRead morey. Hide

The cottage is stunning and set in its own large grounds. the designer of the cottage is John Nash who designed Buckingham palace. There is plenty of room and it is in a fantastic location for reaching other parts of the island.

Wonderful holiday and setting. Perfect location.

There is no WiFi at the cottage. Didn't bother us a bit, but some people rely on it. There are steps inside the cottage, between rooms, which can take you by surprise. We have stayed here before, and have not found them a problem, but could be for anyone with balance problems. However both these points were mentioned in entries in the visitors' bookRead more, so should perhaps be emphasized in the cottage details. I don't wish to be negative, because the cottage suited us ideally and we find it charming. Hide

The booking process, including ferry reservations was painless and efficient. Sweetwater Lodge is an idyllic holiday retreat. Without doubt the best equipped self catering accommodation we have used, topped by a very good welcome pack of flowers, cakes, and essentials for first arrival. Hope to return one day.
