Grade II listed cottage offering a thoughtful and traditionally styled holiday retreat for four guests, ideally situated in a pretty village location with easy access to exploring the island.

Stone Place Cottage is located in the small, rural village of Shorwell on the south west of the island, which is only a five-minute drive from the shingle beaches of Brighstone. Shorwell village is just a 5 minute walk away from the cottage and benefits from a traditional old public house with a stream. The village is ideally located for walkers and cyclists with its rolling countryside and many footpaths and trails to explore. The market town of Newport, often considered the capital of the island, and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke, are all within a ten minute drive. There is a playground in the village of Shorwell for young children and also a playing field. There is a regular bus service and village shop within five minutes.

The cottage stands proud with its stone-built structure and large wooden door. It has been sympathetically renovated to retain original character features such as exposed beams. Stone Place Cottage offers comfortable accommodation for four people in two bedrooms. It is furnished in a traditional country style and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge . After a long day of exploring, curl up on the comfy sofa, light the fire and pop on your favourite movie. There is also a small dining area in the lounge, making this a great place to enjoy breakfast or a light lunch. The kitchen continues with the country feel and is equipped with an electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The dining room has a solid wood table and chairs, enough to seat four people and makes a great room for a relaxed dinner. The bathroom with shower over the bath and WC can also be found on the ground floor. Up the open stairs, there are two bedrooms; one four-poster bedroom and one twin bedroom. Central heating and electricity is provided at no extra charge.

The cottage has an enclosed back garden which is laid to lawn with mature shrubs and trees and benefits from garden furniture. Enjoying an alfresco dinner is a must! There is off-road parking for one car.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The cottage is old and quaint but the stairs are in urgent need of carpet on the tread. the painted treads can be slippery .,the stairs are quite steep for the young or elder generations . The cottage it self is quite dark inside and the furniture/ equipment is mismatched there is no wardrobe in the master bedroom just a three drawer chest of draweRead morers and a unit containing about 20 mini drawers . I don't think it deserves the four star rating . Hide

The cottage has great character and charm. It is comfortable and well equipped but quite cramped. The garden is spacious.

We almost didnt book this cottage due to previous reviews but were so glad we did. The cottage itself was lovely, clean and with a fab garden which got plenty of sun through the day. The bed was super comfy perfect for restoring the batteries after a long days walking around the south of the island. Lovely cottage. No WiFi, Parking across dangerous road, in farm yard. Due to current scaffolding I had to get out of car, open gate, count the ducks to be sure I was not parking on top of one of them - And close gate again etc. Otherwise a fantastic cottage for a family with older children. Loo downstairs wear shoes. Stairs may not meet modern safeRead morety regulations.. The stream and well in the enclosed garden mean that children need to be supervised at all times. Hide

The cottage is at first delightful, full of old-world charm and interesting antiques, like a museum. This quickly fades when the sheer level of cobwebs and grime hits home. The bathroom was clean, but the kitchen very dirty. The microwave, crockery, and pans had not been cleaned between guests. No Wifi and the TV remote only worked occasionally. TiRead morered, feather bedding and cushions may have been the thing in a previous century but non-allergenic alternatives were not available. Disappointing. Hide

a beautiful cottage with bags of character. Not sure it deserves the 4 stars it is rated though. Kitchen and bathroom need modernising. However it was great value for money and very quiet. Also a perfect location to visit all over the island.

Although a beautiful characterful cottage, we were very disappointed by the cleanliness, especially in the current climate. Used contact lenses on the bedside table, bits of broccoli on the cooker, thick dust under all the beds, cobwebs absolutely everywhere and an abundance of cat faeces in the back garden. Such a shame as the cottage itself is soRead more picturesque and the area lovely, just feels like its a bit neglected and could do with some TLC, unfortunately we wont be staying again. Hide

Quirky cottage in a quiet area of the Island. Privacy guaranteed and parking easy enough. Lots of birdsong, only traffic were tractors and cyclists and all kitchen equipment there for your use. Lovely local shop in the village.
