Grade II listed cottage offering a thoughtful and traditionally styled holiday retreat for four guests, ideally situated in a pretty village location with easy access to exploring the island.

Stone Place Cottage is located in the quaint, rural village of Shorwell on the south west of the island, which is only a five-minute drive from the shingle beach at Brighstone. The village is just a short walk away and benefits from a quintessential old public house with a large duck pond. The village is ideally located for walkers and cyclists with its rolling countryside and many footpaths and trails to explore. The market town of Newport, often considered the capital of the island, and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke are within a ten-minute drive.

The cottage stands proud with its stone-built structure and wooden door. It has been sympathetically designed to retain original character features such as exposed beams. Stone Place Cottage offers comfortable accommodation for four people in two bedrooms. It is furnished in a traditional country style and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge, after a long day of exploring, curl up on the comfy sofa, light the fire and pop on your favourite movie. There is also a dining area in the lounge, making this a great area to enjoy breakfast or a light lunch. The kitchen continues with the country feel and is equipped with an electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The dining room is equipped with a solid wood table and chairs, enough to seat four people and makes a great room for a relaxed dinner. The bathroom with shower over the bath and WC can also be found on the ground floor.

Up the cottage style stairs, there are two bedrooms; one four-poster bedroom and one twin bedroom. Central heating, Wi-Fi and electricity is provided at no extra charge.

The cottage has a natural back garden which is laid to lawn with mature shrubs and trees and benefits from garden furniture. Enjoying an alfresco dinner is a must! There is a playground in the village for young children and also a playing field. There is a regular bus service and village shop within three minutes’ walk.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

a beautiful cottage with bags of character. Not sure it deserves the 4 stars it is rated though. Kitchen and bathroom need modernising. However it was great value for money and very quiet. Also a perfect location to visit all over the island.

Slightly dated but still a nice little getaway. If you want to step back in time and get away from everything this place will hit the spot. No WiFi and hardly any mobile signal can be bliss at times. Cute little cottage with antiques galore through out the cottage giving it an old world charm. Great location for the quieter southside of the island Read morewith beaches galore and a more get away from everything feel. Hide

Quirky cottage in a quiet area of the Island. Privacy guaranteed and parking easy enough. Lots of birdsong, only traffic were tractors and cyclists and all kitchen equipment there for your use. Lovely local shop in the village.

The parking is a bit tricky as one has to park in the farmyard across the road. Also right on the road but not too much traffic. The cottage was lovely and they have thought of everything to make it comfortable.

The cottage is a lovely old building within walking distance of a superb pub. You can buy free range eggs and home made jam at the farm gate over the road. The garden attracts wild birds. Shorwell is an excellent base for exploring the less commercialised side of the island.

We visited the Isle of Wight and had a lovely family holiday. Shorwell is a quiet village and a great location. The cottage itself fitted our family nicely including a travel cot in the master bedroom. We found the cottage very dark and in need of a little modernisation particularly the kitchen and bathroom. We had some lovely cosy fires in the eveRead morenings and enjoyed the sunny garden but didnt feel as comfortable as wed have liked. Hide

Lovely cottage in an ideal setting to enable us to explore the whole island. Quaint setting (only a pub and a church in the village); not too far from Newport. The cottage maintained its old world charm through its furnishings and its decoration. We found the whole stay delightful.
