Grade II listed cottage for four guests, ideally situated in a pretty village location with easy access to exploring the island.

Stone Place Cottage is located in the small, rural village of Shorwell on the south west of the island, which is only a three-mile drive from the shingle beaches of Brighstone. Shorwell village is just a 5 minute walk away from the cottage and benefits from a traditional old public house with a stream. The village is ideally located for walkers and cyclists with its rolling countryside and many footpaths and trails to explore. The market town of Newport, often considered the capital of the island, and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke, are within five and a half miles. There is a playground in the village of Shorwell for young children and also a playing field. There is a regular bus service and village shop within five minutes.

The traditional cottage stands proud with its stone-built structure and large wooden door. It has retained original character features such as exposed beams. Stone Place Cottage offers comfortable accommodation for four people in two bedrooms and it is furnished in an old-world country style. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge . After a long day of exploring, curl up on the comfy sofa, light the fire and pop on your favourite movie. There is also a small dining area in the lounge, making this a great place to enjoy breakfast or a light lunch. The kitchen continues with the country feel and is equipped with an electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The dining room has a solid wood table and chairs, enough to seat four people and makes a great room for a relaxed dinner. The bathroom with shower over the bath and WC can also be found on the ground floor. Up the open stairs, there are two bedrooms; one four-poster bedroom and one twin bedroom.

The cottage has an enclosed back garden which is laid to lawn with mature shrubs and trees and benefits from garden furniture. Enjoying an alfresco dinner is a must! There is off-road parking for one car opposite the cottage.

The cottage was very comfortable and we liked all the "period" features and fittings. The area is very quiet (during the evening and night) and very dark, so helps with sleeping. When we arrived the central heating was off and the cottage was quite cold, but we soon found some electric radiator heaters to warm the cottage up. We didn't light the fiRead morere as the temperature increased significantly. We dried our towels on a clothes horse in front of the electric heaters as no heating in the bathroom. Hide

A well positioned cottage in a lovely village. A really pretty cottage with really appropriate sympathetic furnishings to reflect the age. It is not a modern all singing all dancing property but an authentic traditional cottage with good basic amenities.

The cottage is very quirky but we found the sitting room very dark as the shrubs are growing close to the window. The rear garden is very private and was a lovely place to sit in the sun and watch the birds. One of the single beds was not very comfortable. The stairs are steep and there is only one handrail so care is needed. The parking is over thRead moree road in a farmyard and we found it a bit difficult to unload and load as the cottage is on a slight bend. Otherwise a lovely spot in a nice village Hide

Cosy, rustic and packed full of character. Not for those who want modern minimalism, but if you are looking to escape Wifi, and the hustle bustle of busy life, then this is for you. We were slightly concerned when reading reviews that the cottage might be a little dirty, but when we arrived it was absolutely spotless! We will be back.

Not the cleanest of cottages we have stayed at. Some crockery was chipped and cracked. Some cutlery had food stuck to it. The shower head needs replacing. Beds were comfortable. Location is good.

It is a lovely old cottage, (possibly 1700's?) that is need of some TLC but in a really rural setting. The garden is not overlooked as it has trees an bushes around the perimeter. It has everything you need for your holiday.

The cottage is old and quaint but the stairs are in urgent need of carpet on the tread. the painted treads can be slippery .,the stairs are quite steep for the young or elder generations .
