Property code: IC130

This wonderful stone barn stands in a rural area within a ten-minute walk of the sandy beach of Whitecliff Bay which is one of the best beaches on the island; two beachside cafes offer delicious food and a fantastic location. The barn is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is an incredible walking and cycling area with a bridleway close to the barn ascending to Culver Down - a spot with panoramic coastal views across Sandown Bay. Culver Down offers a pub and ice cream parlour for those seeking refreshment. The coastal path extends southwards from here to Sandown and Shanklin, or northwards to Bembridge - an attractive coastal village with a great public house for meals, a range of restaurants and boutique shops plus an attractive harbour and wetland area. The seaside resort of Sandown is within a five-minute drive - and in addition to the large sandy beach it has a variety of traditional seaside amusements plus a boating centre for windsurfing, kayaking and fishing trips. Within a short walk is the small airstrip of Bembridge which can take light aircraft and is a popular spot for gliders. The Propeller Inn is also in close proximity for nice food and drink.

Stanwell Barn is a large stone barn which has been skilfully converted to provide superb accommodation. Original features such as exposed beams and stone walls have been retained. The property has been furnished and equipped to a high standard with under floor heating, and oak and tiled floors. Apart from one bedroom, all of the accommodation is on the ground floor. There is an open plan living room which extends along most of the length of the barn; an attractive sitting room area with comfortable sofas and chairs, a large open fire, flat screen television/Freeview/DVD/iPod docking station; a dining area with a substantial antique farmhouse pine table which will accommodate ten people in comfort; a games area with a pool table and bar billiards. (Logs are not supplied) Glazed double doors open from the living room into a well-equipped fitted kitchen with a range style gas hob and electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer.

There are three ground floor bedrooms with French doors opening on to the terrace; two double rooms (one king-size bed) with en-suite shower rooms containing walk in showers, basins and WCs, and wall mounted televisions/Freeview/DVD; a small single bedroom adjacent to a family bathroom equipped with a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC; a cloakroom with WC and basin. (Access to the single bedroom is via a lobby off of the kitchen). A further bedroom can be accessed via a spiral staircase from the sitting room - this is a double room with an additional single bed boasting open views towards the countryside. (Children do need to be closely supervised in this bedroom due to the open nature of the spiral staircase). A travel cot and high chair are available. Central heating, electricity and WiFi internet are at no extra charge.

The barn has a large fenced garden with a lawn where games can be played, and a terrace with garden furniture, parasol and barbecue. This is the perfect spot to enjoy the afternoon sun. An electric gate gives access to the drive where three/four cars can be parked. A public house, bus service and seasonal shop are within ten minutes walk. A local fisherman in the nearby hamlet sells excellent lobster and crab, known on the island as ,the best dressed crab,. A nearby osteopath and sports injury clinic allows anyone wanting a great massage to be easily accommodated.

Lovely Barn conversion tucked away a stone's throw from Bembridge Airport. Great facilities and with underfloor heating, great when you come in from a long dog walk. We really enjoyed our stay despite the wet weather.

A comfortable house, very warm. We enjoyed our week there. For dog walkers there was only the one walk straight from the house turning right and staying on the grass until you get to the lane. The road is fast so not that safe to walk. We did all our walking away from the house, taking the car. Large garden partially fenced with hedge alongside theRead more road. Hide

Really enjoyed the spacious communal area in this lovely barn cottage. Comfortable beds, plenty of toilet/washing facilities and a very well-equipped kitchen. Great base to explore the island. Location some distance from Bembridge centre so definitely need own transport though there is a nearby bus stop. Would definitely use again and recommend to Read moreothers. Hide

Lovely converted barn. Very warm and cosy. Ideal for a family. Our sons enjoyed playing pool. Drawers full of games to keep the youngsters entertained. Pub within a few mins walk but on a fast road. Sadly no supermarket nearby just a small Co-op a short drive away. So stock up beforehand. The walk to the beach is very steep and down a narrow track.Read more No parking so elderly or less able walkers won't be able to visit it. Not for the faint hearted. Hide
