Set on a12 acre farm, this traditional holiday cottage offers beautiful rural views across fields to the nearby downs, and is a perfect base for exploring the beautiful eastern part of the island.

Stable Barn is a detached cottage with unforgettable open views across the garden and fields to the beautiful Arreton and Mersley Downs in the distance. The cottage is situated on a 12-acre farm which is home to horses. Ducks also often adorn the grassy courtyard near the cottage. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with footpaths leading directly from the cottage to nearby villages and paths which join the Bembridge Trail, across rolling countryside to the coast. There is easy access to a cycle path linking the seaside resort of Sandown with the market town of Newport. The cycle path travels through the pretty villages of Newchurch and Godshill. There is a great public house for meals within a 10-15 minute walk. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are within a ten-minute drive.

Stable Barn was converted in 2010 from a Grade II listed milking parlour into a delightful property which has been furnished and equipped to a high standard, providing comfortable accommodation for four people in two bedrooms, with en-suite bath/shower rooms. It enjoys open views across spectacular countryside from all of its main rooms. The accommodation has a spacious and airy feel, with a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and floor to ceiling glass tri-fold doors which can be folded back to make the garden seem part of the living room. The open-plan living room is furnished with leather sofas, a wall mounted flat screen television with DVD/Freeview, and a hi-fi system with an iPod docking station so that visitors can enjoy their own music. There is a dining area where meals can be taken whilst enjoying the open rural views; an open-plan fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, slim-line dishwasher and fridge freezer. A washer/dryer is provided in a small separate utility area.

The cottage has two bedrooms with incredible rural views, and the added feature of stable doors to provide direct access outside - a double bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC; a twin room with an en-suite shower room with a built in shower, basin and WC. There are plentiful supplies of hot water, and high quality European electric radiators which are thermostatically controlled to maintain an easily adjustable temperature in this well insulated property. Heating and electricity is provided at no extra charge. A travel cot and high chair can be made available. The cottage has a wireless broadband internet (WiFi) connection.

Stable Barn has a lovely, fenced and gated garden at the rear of the cottage with a cherry tree and an apple tree. There is a raised patio area immediately outside of the living room doors - an ideal place to enjoy morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. In the garden, furniture is provided where visitors can relax and meals can be enjoyed A barbecue can be provided free of charge, on request. There are two parking spaces provided just across the entrance to the courtyard. A bus service is a quarter of a mile away. Access to the farm is via a farm lane which is bumpy in places. Nearby places to visit include Amazon Adventure, The Garlic Farm, The Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle and Havenstreet Steam Railway. Osborne House - the island home of Queen Victoria, is within a 20-minute drive.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

It reallly was a lovely setting in the heart of the country. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and we were made most welcome by Mr and Mrs Earle. Everything we required was to hand and it was lovely to see the beautiful surroundings and horses. A very suitable base that we will definitely return to.

Very poor access via bridle path baby potholes. Not very disabled friendly with poor side door access. Would have been nice to have curtains or blinds on Windows felt like we were on display to passing horse riders. Great views but the negatives totally outweigh this small positive

Lovely accommodation set in the grounds of the farm house. Very rural setting but within easy distance of all the main Isle of Wight attractions. Beautiful views of the open countryside with horses and ducks on-site. Would definitely recommend. My three year old daughter loved it.

Nice cottage in a beautiful area. Approach lane a problem for cars. Owners seem not to have gone out of their way to welcome us, unlike previous guest comments.
