This lovely old coastguard cottage is peacefully situated on a small peninsular on the west side of Swanage Bay. It has spectacular sea views from the two main bedrooms and sitting room. The various restaurants, public houses and shops, plus the sandy beach of Swanage are within a five-minute stroll. Swimming, boating and paddling can be enjoyed here as well as fishing and diving. This is a wonderful walking area; there is almost direct access to the coastal path which extends westwards to Durlston and on to Worth Matravers, Kimmeridge and Lulworth. The Swanage Steam Railway service links the coastal resort with the historic village of Corfe Castle.
Sea Shanty is one of a small terrace of traditional stone cottages. It provides lovely accommodation for six people in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a sitting room with two sofas and a wall mounted television with Freeview; a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, refrigerator, small freezer and washing machine. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there is a double bedroom with open sea views across the bay. On the same floor there is a tiled shower room with a built in shower, basin and WC. There is also a bunk bedroom.
A further flight of stairs leads up to a spacious third bedroom with a super king-sized bed and superb sea views. All the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. A travel cot and high chair can be made available. The cottage is heated with a combination of storage heaters and electric radiators. A second shower room with WC and basin is in an outbuilding which can be accessed via the kitchen door, and is up a small flight of seven fairly steep steps. This is ideal for use when returning from the beach. The cottage has a walled courtyard style area at the front of the cottage overlooking the sea, with garden furniture so that meals can be eaten outside whilst enjoying the wonderful open views across the sea. The sea is only a stone's throw away.
One car parking permit is provided for the cottage so that visitors can park one car at the rear of the cottages, spaces are not allocated and are on a first come first served basis. Please note that access to the cottage is down a short fairly steep slope. It is not really suitable for people with walking issues. There is a bus service available from Swanage with links to Corfe Castle, Wareham, Poole and Bournemouth. The bus route via Studland and the floating bridge is particularly attractive. Bird lovers may enjoy Brownsea Island and also the RSPB site at Arne.
