The picturesque village square is within ten minutes walk and here, there are a variety of small shops, public houses, tea shops, a great restaurant, plus the steam railway which links Corfe Castle with Swanage. Open countryside is within a one-minute walk of the cottage. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with footpaths and bridleways leading across unspoilt countryside to attractive stone villages, and to the coastal path from where there are panoramic views of the miles of dramatic coastline which forms part of the Jurassic Coastline in this area. The seaside resort of Swanage is within a ten-minute drive. Here there is a sandy beach where swimming, boating, fishing and diving can be enjoyed.
Russett Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage and provides spacious accommodation for six people in three bedrooms. It has been furnished and equipped with care and is centrally heated. There is a striking hallway with a beautiful, old cottage door and flagstone floor; a large open-plan kitchen with fitted units and a breakfast bar, plus television and an AGA with a double oven and hot plates, a gas hob, refrigerator and combination microwave (during very hot weather the AGA can be turned off and the gas hob and a combination microwave with grill, plus a barbecue can be used for cooking); a utility room with Belfast sink, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer; a separate sitting room with French doors opening into the garden, two comfortable sofas, an arm chair, flat screen Smart TV with Freeview and a DVD player, and a big open fire - a lovely place to relax in cooler weather; a separate dining room which extends into a conservatory-style area with a wood burning stove, sofa and a further set of French doors opening onto a terrace; a cloakroom with a WC and basin.
Upstairs there are three attractive bedrooms; a twin room with a basin; a double room with a king-size bed and views over the garden; a spacious master bedroom with garden views, a king-size bed and television, plus an en-suite shower room with a built in shower, basin and WC. Six gentle steps lead up to a large lawn with attractive shrubberies and views of the castle providing a wonderful place for visitors to relax in peaceful surroundings. There is parking for two/three cars in the drive. A regular bus service to Swanage, Wareham and Poole is within ten minutes walk. Golf can be played at courses in Studland and Wareham; bird watching at the RSPB site at Arne; boating on the river at Wareham.
Russett Cottage has decorations and a Christmas Tree for the festive season. It is possible to combine the rental of Russett Cottage with the adjoining Daisy Cottage. This will accommodate an additional three to four people. There is ample dining space in Russett Cottage to accommodate ten people.
Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.
