Rubstone Cottage stands on a quiet pathway, only a few steps from the pretty centre of Shanklin Old Village with its charming thatched cottages, small shops and public houses. The sandy beach of the seaside resort of Shanklin is only a five-minute walk away. Here, the sand gently slopes into the water and paddling, swimming and boating can be enjoyed. On the sea front are a variety of places to eat with spectacular sea views and traditional entertainments including amusements and crazy golf. Shanklin Chine provides an attractive route from the old village to the beach. The main centre of Shanklin provides shops, a supermarket, tea shops and restaurants. It also has good public transport links with direct access via the train to Ryde onwards to the mainland. Shanklin also benefits from a good bus service to various parts of the Isle of Wight.
Rubstone is a traditional stone semi-detached cottage. It is one of only four or five properties on a small pathway with no vehicle access. The cottage has been furnished and equipped with care to provide an attractive and comfortable place to stay which is centrally heated and double glazed. On the ground floor there is a sitting room with a sofa, arms chairs, flat screen television with Freeview and DVD player; a separate dining area with a window overlooking the courtyard; a compact kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and gas hob, microwave and refrigerator. In a separate outbuilding there is a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer.
Fairly steep stairs lead up to two charming bedrooms - one double and one twin room, plus a bathroom with bath, handheld shower, basin and W.C. A stair gate is available and arrangements can also be made for a travel cot and high chair to be provided on request. Wifi internet, central heating and electricity are without any additional charge. The cottage has a small courtyard style garden which is laid to gravel, walled and gated with garden furniture so that meals can be enjoyed outside. A complimentary car parking permit is provided by reimbursement for one car for the period of visitors stay - car park within a two-minute walk. This car parking ticket enables visitors to also park in other council car parks throughout the Isle of Wight including Shanklin Esplanade.
