There is a scenic walk beside the River Yar towards the attractive coastal port and sailing centre of Yarmouth. The centre of the market town of Freshwater is within a 15-minute walk and this offers a collection of shops, public houses and restaurants, plus a sports centre with indoor pool and a golf course with panoramic coastal views.

Romany Cottage is situated in a quiet residential area. It is a charming cottage which has been furnished and equipped with great care to provide accommodation of a high standard for six people in three bedrooms. All the main living rooms are south west facing and there are three sets of French doors opening out onto the terrace. Almost all of the windows in the cottage have garden views. There are attractive wooden floors with rugs throughout the cottage. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric fan oven, gas hob, extractor microwave, refrigerator with ice box and dishwasher, plus a charming breakfast area with seating for six; an open plan sitting room with a large leather sofa, arm chair, digital television with DVD and Freeview, and an open fire which visitors can relax in front of during colder weather; a spacious dining area for more formal meals with a wood burning stove; a cloakroom with a basin and W.C; a side lobby with an area for hanging coats and removing boots. The cottage is centrally heated and has double glazed leaded light windows and doors. Gas, central heating, electricity and WIFI are provided without extra charge. (Children 12 + welcome).

Romany has a charming enclosed sunny garden which is south west facing and provides a warm and protected spot to unwind. It has a large heart shaped wildlife pond as the central feature. Visitors can stroll around the garden and enjoy relaxing on seats in various parts of the garden. Garden furniture is also provided on the terrace so that meals can be enjoyed outside. The cottage is approached via a narrow drive in which up to 4 cars can be parked; the entrance to the driveway is narrower than the rest of the driveway. It is suitable for larger cars with a turn around space at its widest point, at the top of the drive by reversing into the garage. Small boats and bicycles can be stored in the garage and there is also a room with an external entrance which is ideal for storage and airing clothing, and it includes a freezer and washing machine. Beautiful peaceful cottage with a superb garden. The wildlife pond was a joy, and we loved watching the ducks each day. Romany was thoughtfully equipped, and located in a lovely quiet area. Very handy for the ferry at Yarmouth, and a few good shops nearby so that catering was easy. Only 10 minutes from Totland beach, and some great walks to TennysoRead moren Down and Headon Warren. This is a perfect base for exploring the island if you want to be away from the more touristy areas. Hide

Lovely two week stay. Comfortable home, quiet and within easy reach of the loveliest parts of the island. WE enjoyed some cycling, walking and beaches. Tried out some new restaurants. Most importantly, we are all going home a lot more relaxed than when we got here. Time to be still an appreciate what you have.

A wonderful week in the Isle of Wight. Despite one day of rainy weather. Have enjoyed exploring this side of the island and would recommend Colwell Bay and the hat and Farringford House tour.
