Set within a stunning conservation area, with Brighstone amenities on the doorstep and superb coast and countryside views, this cottage is perfectly located for a quiet retreat.
Rectory Cottage stands in a quiet country lane in a lovely conservation area and enjoys superb views across fields to the coast and St Catherine's Cliffs. It is less than a mile from the beaches of Brighstone Bay and is within a three-minute walk of the centre of the pretty village of Brighstone, with its 12th century church, public house for meals and village shop which specialises in local produce. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with nearby footpaths leading to Brighstone Downs and the renowned Tennyson Trail, which links Carisbrooke close to the centre of the Isle of Wight with The Needles on its western tip. There are also paths leading from close to the cottage to the coastal path which is particularly beautiful here and offers extraordinary views. There are a number of picturesque bays on the west side of the Island. Compton Bay - a spot renowned for its fossils and popular with surfers is within a ten-minute drive - one of the best beaches on the Island. The National trust gardens of Mottistone Manor are also within a short drive.
This delightful stone cottage is Grade II listed and was originally a wing of the village Rectory. Now it is a completely self-contained property with its own private access and secluded garden. The cottage provides attractive and comfortable accommodation for 5 + 1 in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen with a hardwood work top, a ceramic sink, induction hob, oven with grill, microwave, refrigerator, slim-line dishwasher, freezer and washing machine; an open plan dining area beside a large window within the kitchen with seating for six; a spacious sitting room with comfortable sofas and chairs, flat screen Smart television with Freeview; a ground floor bedroom with a fitted wardrobe, TV and French style bed providing a single bed for a child, or when pulled out a king-size double bed. The French style bed enables the room to be easily used as a second sitting room. There are a few steps from the hallway to the inner hallway and lounge.
Stairs lead us to two charming bedrooms with superb views; a double bedroom with open views across fields to the downs with glimpses of the sea in the distance; a much larger master bedroom with a super king-size bed, fitted wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with a Victorian style roll top bath with feet, basin and W.C.; a family shower room with walk in shower, basin and W.C. A cot and high chair can be provided for a child. WiFi internet is also available. (We regret that the fireplace cannot be used).
Rectory Cottage has a south facing garden enclosed by hedges and stone walling. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. A space is available immediately outside the garden gate to park a small car. A larger car (which is not over-height) can be accommodated by opening the garage door. Additional cars can be parked in the road beside the church or in the free village car park - five minutes walk. There is a bus service, also within five minutes walk.
