Beautifully modernised to offer bright and spacious accommodation, this lovely cottage is a tranquil hideaway just steps from the village centre.

This lovely stone cottage stands in a quiet lane within a three-minute walk of the central square of the picturesque village of Corfe Castle. Corfe is renowned for its dramatic and majestic castle which is protected by the National Trust. The sandy beach of studland is within a 15-minute drive. Here there is a two mile stretch of sand where swimming, paddling and boating can be enjoyed. The more lively resort of Swanage is also within a 15-minute drive and here, the traditional seaside amusements of Punch and Judy, brass bands and a Victorian pier can be found, along with a variety of shops, restaurants, diving school and a lovely bay of golden sand.

Corfe Castle is at the centre of a wonderful walking area with footpaths across the downs leading eastward to Studland, or westward to the pretty villages of Church Knowle, Kimmeridge and Lulworth. The Jurassic coast starts in Purbeck and there are dramatic coastal walks with panoramic views. It is a rich area for bird watchers with the beautiful peninsula of Arne within a short drive. This RSPB reserve overlooks Poole Harbour and is populated with deer, a plethora of wading birds, geese and ducks.

Plum Tree Cottage is a traditional stone cottage and has been completely renovated to provide attractive accommodation for four people in two bedrooms. It is centrally heated and has been furnished and equipped with care. On the ground floor there is a spacious sitting room with comfortable leather sofas, television with Freeview and DVD player, plus an open fire which provides a lovely focus for the room in colder weather. A door opens into an attractive open-plan fitted kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has an electric cooker and hob, microwave, refrigerator with small freezer section and washing machine. There is a pleasant dining area beside French doors which open into the garden.

Stairs lead up from the sitting room to two pretty bedrooms. There is a spacious double room with a king-size bed and a second bedroom with a bunk bed. This latter bedroom has French doors opening onto a balcony adorned with a vine and here, visitors can sit and enjoy a wonderful view of the hills and the beautiful castle of Corfe. On this upper floor there is also a bathroom with a bath, shower cubicle, basin and W.C. Heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. Unlimited Wi-Fi internet access can also be made available.

The cottage has a long lawned garden with apple trees and space for visitors to relax and for children to play games. The garden is fully enclosed and has a sunny patio area with garden furniture. Private parking space is available for two cars within one minutes walk and visitors can park directly outside the cottage from October to May. Parking outside of the cottage to unload is also possible in the summer. A regular bus service to Swanage and Poole is within five minutes walk and the steam railway runs a regular service from Corfe Castle to Harmans Cross and Swanage. In the village square there is a bakers, a post office, general stores, National Trust shop and public houses. There are also tea shops and restaurants; all within a few minutes walk. Nearby places to visit include Lulworth Castle and the National Trust properties of Corfe Castle, Kingston Lacey Hardys Cottage and the beautiful island of Brownsea. RATS AND DISAPOINTMENT The cottage is very unloved and .tired looking. The garden was over grown. The location of the cottage was perfect and the views overlooking the castle was spectacular. It really was the WOW factor. The cottage itself was what we expected. Nice size rooms with everything we needed including the smart TV and good broadband. PS the milk and the local baked cake was a nice welcoming touch.
