Nestling in the beautiful Purbeck Hills and just a short drive from the sandy beach at Swanage, this charming 19th century stone cottage is attractively situated in the picturesque hamlet of Acton.

This charming stone cottage is attractively situated in Acton with open views from all of the main rooms. Acton is a quaint, rural hamlet of traditional stone cottages amidst the rolling Purbeck hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a wonderful walking and cycling area. Visitors can walk directly from the cottage and join footpaths to the coastal village of Worth Matravers and the coastal path. The cottage is near Dancing Ledge and St Aldhelms Head - a dramatic area of rocky coastline between Swanage and Chapmans Pool. This is part of the renowned Jurassic Coast and is known for its fossils and the amazing range of bird life and wild flowers. Puffins, gulls, seals and dolphins can be seen as you walk towards Swanage. The village of Langton Matravers is within a 15-minute walk and here, there are two public houses, a village shop and beautiful church. The seaside resort of Swanage is just a five-minute drive away. Here, there are a range of restaurants, public houses and small shops. Fishing can be enjoyed and water sports are available, plus diving. The sandy beach is perfect for paddling and swimming with Punch and Judy shows often on the beach in summer. The steam railway links Swanage with Corfe Castle - a picturesque village with thatched stone cottages and the majestic ruins of an ancient castle.

Marblers is a detached stone cottage which dates back to 1867. It has been furnished and equipped to provide attractive accommodation which is centrally heated and double glazed. Care has been taken to retain the stone fireplaces and cottage doors, and it has been renovated using traditional materials. It has lovely stone window sills and attractive Purbeck stone tiled floors in the open-plan living areas, combined with rugs and fitted carpets in the bedrooms. It has a spacious fitted kitchen with wooden units and a Purbeck stone worktop. It is equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, Belfast sink, dishwasher and refrigerator with icebox. French doors can be opened from here onto a sunny terrace where meals can be enjoyed. (A washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and Belfast sink are in a separate utility room). There is a pleasant dining area which will seat eight and this is particularly welcoming in colder weather with a wood burning stove. Here, there is also a large sofa by a window so visitors can relax. There are additional sofas in a sitting room area with a fireplace and a rustic coal/wood burner, and a flat screen television with Freeview and DVD player.

A door opens from the sitting room to reveal a staircase to the first floor bedrooms. These are light and spacious bedrooms; one double room and a second double room with a king-size bed and en-suite shower room with a walk in shower, basin, shaver point and WC. There is also a family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC. A door opens from the first floor landing to reveal a staircase to two interlinked attic bedrooms which provide an exciting den for children. The beds here are full size, but due to the low ceilings particularly in the second of the attic bedrooms, are most suitable for children. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. Central heating and electricity is without extra charge. WiFi internet available.

Marblers has a beautiful, walled and gated garden at the rear of the cottage with a stone terrace, garden furniture and a barbecue. There is also an area of lawn where visitors can relax and games can be played. The garden is on two levels with a small number of steps leading up from the back door. A further walled garden is at the front of the cottage and there is a grassed area just beyond the quiet lane in front of the cottage where cars can be parked. (This gravel track is only used for access to the cottages beyond Marblers). A public house and village shop are within 15 minutes walk, and a regular bus service is within ten minutes walk.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

One of our best holidays ever! We could walk straight out onto Priests Way and vary our walks daily. The facilities in the cottage were excellent. Outdoor eating with a BBQ when hot, yet a wood burning stove on the miserable cold day we experienced. We will return - hopefully.

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. Coastal walks on your doorstep, village pub only a 15 minute walk and Swanage 10 minutes by car or just over an hour to walk. We loved our stay in Marblers.

Great location with walks from the door and lovely views over the valley. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms good. Very comfortable beds. More comfortable sofas would be good if they could fit in. At least our third visit and no doubt we will be back.
