Set on the edge of Langton Matravers in glorious South Dorset countryside, this sweet cottage is perfect for exploring the Jurassic Coast and this quintessential corner of English coast. Discover the independent shops, pubs, pier, steam railway, galleries, seafront and eateries of Swanage (1.5 miles). Encounter rare wildlife at the exquisite Studland and Godlingston Heath Nature Reserve (4 miles), bask on Knoll and South Beach (5 miles), or catch a ferry across to Sandbanks (23 miles by road). Langton Matravers (0.5 miles) has a lovely pub and a brilliant ‘Dinosaur Footprints’ walk along the Priests Way, which connects the village with Swanage. Walk from Durlston Country Park (3 miles) to nearby Anvil Lighthouse, for dramatic vistas and breathtaking sea views.

Located in a wing of the owner’s home, inside the cottage you’ll find an abundance of cosy rustic comfort. Relax in the intimate lounge, reminiscing with wine on days of coastal adventure. Prepare supreme local seafood in the sea-blue and sandy yellow kitchen, and dine al fresco on the partially walled, sun-trap patio. After a steaming shower, retire to your blissful double bedroom with its wide windows and tranquil decor. Distant sea vistas will tempt you.

Find sublime sands at Swanage, Studland’s Shell Bay (6.5 miles), and two gorgeous golden stretches at Sandbanks. RSPB Arne Nature Reserve (9.5 miles) is one of England’s finest wild habitats; its heaths, wetlands and ancient woods are home to all six British reptile species, and countless other rare and colourful creatures. Hartland Moor and Stoborough Heath Nature Reserves (6.5/8 miles) offer more magical scenery, serenity and secret wonders. Discover picturesque Wareham (10 miles), and travel the Jurassic Coast on the Sea Train Adventure, by land and sea from Swanage to Poole (18.5 miles). A very comfortable cosy cottage that was spotlessly clean. We had a very warm welcome from our hosts who were helpful and friendly during our stay.

A great choice for those wishing to explore this part of Dorset. David and Ann, owners of the property, are right next door and are so welcoming. Bertie, their Labradoodle, instantly made friends with our Border Collie. For dog lovers, there are so many great dog-friendly walks if you base yourself here. The owners are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The cottage is perfectly situated for walking into Swanage and is also on the bus route.

The cottage was comfortable, had everything you needed. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. This was a great location for a base in Dorset. Even a bus stop was in walking distance from the cottage, from which you could travel to Poole or Weymouth.
