This picturesque thatched cottage is situated in a quiet lane, in the peaceful rural village of Newbridge on the west side of the island - only a five-minute drive from the coast, with beaches at Brook and Compton Bay. Laurel Cottage is in a lovely walking and cycling area. Nearby footpaths lead to Shalfleet Creek and to the Tennyson Trail from which there are spectacular views across the Solent and the South Coast. Within a short drive are the Yar Estuary and the nature reserve at Newtown, both havens for sea birds, waterfowl and rare wading birds. Excellent cream teas can be enjoyed at the nearby Chessel pottery.
Laurel Cottage is a semi-detached, stone built cottage which still retains many original features and has been carefully renovated to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation in a traditional style. The cottage is well heated with a combination of storage heaters and oil filled radiators. It has a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a separate dining area and visitors can unwind in the relaxing sitting room which has a comfortable sofa and chairs, a flat screen Smart television with Freeview and a DVD player. A door from the sitting room opens to reveal a staircase which leads directly up into the attractive double bedroom. Access to the twin bedroom is via the double room. A travel cot, high chair and stair gate are available. The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a bath, overhead electric shower, basin and W.C. Heating and electricity are free of charge. WiFi internet access is available.
Laurel Cottage has a pretty, fenced garden with a large lawn, shrubs and trees. Visitors can peacefully relax in the sunshine and games can be played. Garden furniture is provided. There is parking space for one car at the side of cottage. There are public houses in the nearby villages of Calbourne and Shalfleet, plus a variety of fine restaurants in Yarmouth and Freshwater. It is a five-minute walk to the seasonal shop and telephone in the village. There is also a regular bus service within a few minutes walk.
Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.
