This lovely flint and stone house enjoys sea views from its elevated position in the seaside resort of Ventnor, on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight. It is south facing and within walking distance of the town centre and the beach. Ventnor is an attractive seaside resort with a range of interesting shops, restaurants, public houses, wine bars and charming gardens. It has a secluded beach where swimming, paddling and fishing can be enjoyed. Fresh fish can be purchased daily from the harbour. Visitors may also enjoy strolling through Ventnor gardens and the renowned Ventnor Botanical Garden. There is a lovely coastal walk linking Ventnor with Shanklin and there are beautiful downland walks further inland. The larger sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are within a ten-minute drive.

Huish House was built in 1866 by Captain Mark Huish, and stands at the end of a small terrace of similar stone and flint houses. The property provides comfortable accommodation for six people in three bedrooms and ranges over four floors. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen with a tiled floor, equipped with an electric double oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee maker, table and chairs; a small utility area under the stairs houses the freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer; and a cloakroom with WC. and basin.

It is on the first floor that the ancient gothic style front door provides the main access to the property. Here, there is a sitting room with sea views, a large corner sofa, wood burning stove and Smart television with Sky Family Plus, Freeview and a Blu-Ray DVD player; a separate dining room with feature fire place. There is also a mini portable music system with radio, CD and Bluetooth speakers. Stairs then lead up to the master bedroom with a king-size bed and sea views, plus an adjacent family bathroom with a Victorian style bath on clawed feet, hand shower, walk in shower, basin and WC.

On the fourth floor there is another double bedroom with sea views and a king-size bed, plus an attractive twin bedroom with 2ft 6ins beds for children. All of the bedrooms have wardrobes. A travel cot and high chair can be provided.

Huish House provides a wonderful base from which to enjoy a beach holiday or to explore the island. There is a good bus service within a couple of minutes walk to take you to Ventnor centre if you prefer not to walk, or to Shanklin and Newport plus the various small villages en-route. Cars can be parked outside the property when space permits and in nearby lanes. A public house, wine bar and restaurants in the town centre are within ten minutes walk.

This property was lovely. Great views of the sea from the bedroom, well equipped, and the best power shower! Parking was a little tricky but this is stated in the advert. Very lovely cottage, would stay again

Not suitable for young children or people with mobility issues as there is a lot of stairs which are quite narrow, also as there is no outside space the property opens straight on to the busy main road and there is not a pathway on the same side as the property, this also makes it difficult for dogs. Parking outside the property or in the immediateRead more vicinity was impossible, therefore unloading when we arrived and loading when we left proved difficult. Hide

Lovely views from the house and house very comfortable. It is a very tall house so a lot of stairs to get up to the bedroom so kept us fit. The only issue was lack of any outdoor space and straight onto a busy road which was a bit of an isdue for the dog. Would definitely recommend.

Well-equipped and nicely refurbished property with sea view (and plenty of stairs!) and in a lovely seaside town. Parking was challenging and the hills very steep but overall we had a brilliant family holiday with The Needles, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House and beach days as highlights.

Stayed here last weekend for my birthday. The property is on four floors with some steep steps but 3 yr old and 9yr old got up and down them fine yes, property does lead out onto main road but, with careful crossing wasn't an issue. The very poor quality of this accommodation didn't completely spoil our Christmas break, but it nearly did. We accessed the property on Christmas Eve at 5 pm. We really enjoyed our 4 days in the Isle of Wight. First time we had been in 21years! The house was lovely, spotlessly clean, lots of quality furniture and plenty of all the necessary items, Mollymimi-our Dachshund, was very happy with her dog treats!! Will definitely be back again.

The cottage was clean, it's close to a bus stop which makes getting around easy. However because it is right by the roadside the traffic does interrupt sleep. One of the beds needs replacing other than that great views and walking up and down Ventnor hills are gorgeous.

In dire need of tlc! Bathroom great but the rest quite poor. Not suitable for children, pets or over 60s. Really steep walk to town and parking difficult. More than 3/4 people would be falling over each other.
