Located on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight and enjoying fantastic sea views, this lovely stone and flint house is just a short walk from the centre of the charming seaside resort of Ventnor.

This lovely flint and stone house enjoys sea views from its elevated position in the seaside resort of Ventnor, on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight. It is south facing and within walking distance of the town centre and the beach. Ventnor is an attractive seaside resort with a range of interesting shops, restaurants, public houses, wine bars and charming gardens. It has a secluded beach where swimming, paddling and fishing can be enjoyed. Fresh fish can be purchased daily from the harbour. Visitors may also enjoy strolling through Ventnor gardens and the renowned Ventnor Botanical Garden. There is a lovely coastal walk linking Ventnor with Shanklin and there are beautiful downland walks further inland. The larger sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are within a ten-minute drive.

Huish House was built in 1866 by Captain Mark Huish, and stands at the end of a small terrace of similar stone and flint houses. The property provides comfortable accommodation for six people in three bedrooms and ranges over four floors. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen with a tiled floor, equipped with an electric double oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee maker, table and chairs; a small utility area under the stairs houses the freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer; and a cloakroom with W.C. and basin.

It is on the first floor that the ancient gothic style front door provides the main access to the property. Here, there is a sitting room with sea views, a large corner sofa, wood burning stove and Smart television with Sky Family Plus, Freeview and a Blu-Ray DVD player; a separate dining room with feature fire place. There is also a mini portable music system with radio, CD and Bluetooth speakers. Stairs then lead up to the master bedroom with a king-size bed and sea views, plus an adjacent family bathroom with a Victorian style bath on clawed feet, hand shower, walk in shower, basin and W.C.

On the fourth floor there is another double bedroom with sea views and a king-size bed, plus an attractive twin bedroom with 2ft 6ins beds for children. All of the bedrooms have wardrobes. A travel cot and high chair can be provided.

Huish House provides a wonderful base from which to enjoy a beach holiday or to explore the island. There is a good bus service within a couple of minutes walk to take you to Ventnor centre if you prefer not to walk, or to Shanklin and Newport plus the various small villages en-route. Cars can be parked outside the property when space permits and in nearby lanes. A public house, wine bar and restaurants in the town centre are within ten minutes walk.

The cottage was clean, it's close to a bus stop which makes getting around easy. However because it is right by the roadside the traffic does interrupt sleep. One of the beds needs replacing other than that great views and walking up and down Ventnor hills are gorgeous.

In dire need of tlc! Bathroom great but the rest quite poor. Not suitable for children, pets or over 60s. Really steep walk to town and parking difficult. More than 3/4 people would be falling over each other.

We had a lovely holiday at Huish House in Ventnor. The house has everything you need including board games and DVDs. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very attractive. We had a great holiday and hope to go back there another year.

Had a nice stay at Huish House & lovely holiday on Isle of Wight overall. I'd take issue with previous reviewer who questioned whether it was suitable for younger children. Our five-year-old loved climbing four flights of stairs to go to bed in the "attic". The 11-month-old was more problematic but stair gates were supplied & you'd have to keep an Read moreeye on an 11-month-old wherever you're staying! Six adults would have been a squeeze, however, as all rooms are small. Parking was an issue throughout Hide

Really lovely family accommodation in an excellent location. Clean, beautifully furnished and well equipped. Be aware of lots of stairs and location is right at the top of many hills - but we loved it.

The cottage was charming, but in need of updating. The bathroom is lovely, but the rest of the rooms are tiny and hard to share with others without tripping over each other. The house is not suitable for families, our children are teens, but with young children it would be even harder. The house was very clean and neat. The owners had gone above and beyond to make the place covid safe. I would say that if you have mobility issues there are a lot of narrow stairs and the walk back from town is up a steep hill. That said a taxi from the sea front is under 6. Well equipped good base for Ventnor and surrounding area. On busy road but if that doesn't bother you, it has all you need for a holiday break - good welcome pack and information. Comfortable beds, good sitting and dining room and great bathroom.

Very enjoyable stay (if you don't mind stairs!). Clean, well-equipped and with good views from the living room and two of the bedrooms. Parking nearby was sometimes problematic, and a TV in the kitchen would have been nice, but neither would deter us from staying at Huish House again.

Everything we needed was provided for. Very comfortable bed and sofa. Sea views from every room. Fantastic location just a short (downhill) stroll to the town and beach. Bit harder to get back up the hill but a stop off at the ice cream parlour makes it easier! Great pubs with lovely food within walking distance or a short drive.
