Located on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight and enjoying fantastic sea views, this lovely stone and flint house is just a short walk from the centre of the charming seaside resort of Ventnor.

This lovely flint and stone house enjoys sea views from its elevated position in the seaside resort of Ventnor, on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight. It is south facing and within walking distance of the town centre and the beach. Ventnor is an attractive seaside resort with a range of interesting shops, restaurants, public houses, wine bars and charming gardens. It has a secluded beach where swimming, paddling and fishing can be enjoyed. Fresh fish can be purchased daily from the harbour. Visitors may also enjoy strolling through Ventnor gardens and the renowned Ventnor Botanical Garden. There is a lovely coastal walk linking Ventnor with Shanklin and there are beautiful downland walks further inland. The larger sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are within a ten-minute drive.

Huish House was built in 1866 by Captain Mark Huish, and stands at the end of a small terrace of similar stone and flint houses. The property provides comfortable accommodation for six people in three bedrooms and ranges over four floors. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen with a tiled floor, equipped with an electric double oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee maker, table and chairs; a small utility area under the stairs houses the freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer; and a cloakroom with W.C. and basin.

It is on the first floor that the ancient gothic style front door provides the main access to the property. Here, there is a sitting room with sea views, a large corner sofa, wood burning stove and television with Sky Family Plus, Freeview and a Blu-Ray DVD player; a separate dining room with feature fire place. There is also a mini portable music system with radio, CD and Bluetooth speakers. Stairs then lead up to the master bedroom with a king-size bed and sea views, plus an adjacent family bathroom with a Victorian style bath on clawed feet, hand shower, walk in shower, basin and W.C.

On the fourth floor there is another double bedroom with sea views and a king-size bed, plus an attractive twin bedroom with 2ft 6ins beds for children. All of the bedrooms have wardrobes. A travel cot and high chair can be provided. Central heating and electricity are without extra charge, and Wifi internet is available.

Huish House provides a wonderful base from which to enjoy a beach holiday or to explore the island. There is a good bus service within a couple of minutes walk to take you to Ventnor centre if you prefer not to walk, or to Shanklin and Newport plus the various small villages en-route. Cars can be parked outside the property when space permits and in nearby lanes. A public house, wine bar and restaurants in the town centre are within ten minutes walk.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Great cottage with plenty of room for 6. Very well equipped kitchen and a large proper bathroom. A quality smart TV with further radios dotted about the house. Good internet and WiFi throughout. Great sea views from the top two floors. Just be aware that the property is over 4 floors with fairly steep stairs. It's also on a busy road with traffic rRead moreoaring past the house. Everything we needed was provided for. Very comfortable bed and sofa. Sea views from every room. Fantastic location just a short (downhill) stroll to the town and beach. Bit harder to get back up the hill but a stop off at the ice cream parlour makes it easier! Great pubs with lovely food within walking distance or a short drive.

The cottage itself provides everything as stated in the description on the website but what I hadn't fully taken into account was the fact that the kitchen was on the ground floor so any meals you wanted to have in the dining or living room involved transporting up a narrow flight of stairs. Another slight drawback which anyone with small children Read moreshould note is that the house leads directly onto a road with moderate traffic flow and is also on a bus route. Hide

Property had been cleaned thoroughly before we arrived. The house is well-equipped and we appreciated the WiFi. However, be wary of the wide-angle photos. Apart from the bathroom, all rooms are smaller than they appear on the website. Our family of two children and two adults could not sit comfortably together in the living room. There is no outdooRead morer space at all. The house opens on to a busy road with buses and cars going past at speed. We did enjoy the glorious sea views. Hide

Excellent house with everything you need whilst away. Nice quiet area, the road is near but not lots of traffic. Comfortable bed and lovely sea views. Handy bus stops just out side, easy way to see the island. Yes there are lots of steps, but it is a house over 4 floors.

Cottage was very well equipped and clean. Lovely furniture and comfortable beds. Perhaps stairs could be mentioned as there are a lot. Good bus service close by.
