Pretty detached cottage offering spacious accommodation for up to nine guests, enjoying a quiet countryside location on the edge of the village of Shalfleet in the west of the Isle of Wight.

This detached, rural cottage is attractively situated in the parish of Shalfleet in beautiful West Wight countryside. The village centre with its 11th century church, public houses including the award winning gastro-pub, The New Inn, and village shop are less than one and a half miles away. Shalfleet is renowned for its estuary which is part of a National Nature Reserve and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is home to countless wildfowl and rare wading birds. The sailing centre of Yarmouth is within a ten minute drive and offers a variety of excellent restaurants and boutique style shops. Also nearby, are the sandy bays of Totland and Colwell, as well as Brook Compton and Freshwater Bay. The cottage is in a wonderful walking and cycling area with easy access to Brighstone Forest and superb coastal walks, plus the Hamstead Trail and Tennyson Trail which extends from the centre of the island to The Needles on the western tip.

Field Cottage is a delightful character property, skilfully converted from two cottages dating back to 1850 to form one spacious home. It can accommodate eight people in four bedrooms, with two en-suite shower rooms and a family bathroom. (Plus a W.C on the ground floor). The cottage is double glazed and centrally heated. There are great views from most of the upper rooms across surrounding fields to the downs.

Downstairs there is an open plan fitted kitchen equipped with a Belfast sink, AGA, double electric oven and induction hob, integral microwave, refrigerator, three drawer freezer, dishwasher and walk in larder; a separate utility area with a sink and washer dryer; a lovely dining room with a wood burning stove and direct access to the conservatory; a sunny sitting room with deep sofas, smart television with a Blu-ray DVD player, an open log fire - a French door opens from here onto a south facing terrace; a conservatory with sofas for relaxing and French doors which open into the garden; a twin bedroom and a cloakroom with a W.C. and basin.

Stairs lead up from the spacious hallway to an additional three bedrooms; a master bedroom with a double bed, a smart television with Blu-ray DVD player and double doors opening into a dressing room area, plus an en-suite shower room with built in shower, W.C. and basin; a second light and spacious double bedroom with a small en-suite shower room with built in shower, basin and W.C.; a twin bedroom; a spacious family bathroom with a large bath, a walk in shower, basin and W.C. A travel cot, high chair or folding bed for a child can be provided, and the dressing room linked to the master bedroom can make an ideal nursery area for very young children. Wifi internet plus hi-fi systems with MP3/iPod jack are available so visitors can listen to their own music. Central heating and electricity are without extra charge. Please be aware that the AGA is only available from November to late February.

A particularly wonderful feature of Field Cottage is the large fenced and gated garden at the rear of the property. This has a combination of lawns and colourful borders, plus a terrace with garden furniture so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. In addition, there is an area for young children to enjoy with a trampoline and swings. Bicycles can be stored in a brick built garden outbuilding. At the front of the cottage is a large drive where four cars can be parked. Regular bus service to Newport or Alum Bay is with a few minutes walk.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £200 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Field Cottage is a beautiful home from home. It is a quiet and peaceful place for a break and within easy reach of the whole island. Newport is only a few minutes away in the car, so even though the cottage is tucked away, you are not far from everything you need. The cottage was lovely and cool in the recent hot weather (apart from the conservatorRead morey, which was off limits!). The house is stocked with everything you could need, including Books, DVD's and games and a lovely private patio area. Hide

Fantastic cottage with a really nice feel. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying on the island. It's close to a nice gastro pub and PO41 coffee shop in Yarmouth, which does great coffee and the best scones and banana cake.
