Driftwood Cottage is a lovely detached property in the coastal area of Forelands in Bembridge, on the east of the Isle of Wight. It is attractively situated within a one minute walk of the sea and overlooks a private grassy area which provides access to this quiet area of beach and some parking. There are sandy areas for paddling and rocks ideal for hunting crabs and prawns. Visitors can also walk along the beach at low tide to the sands of Whitecliff Bay. This is a wonderful walking area and the coastal path can be followed eastwards to Culver Down and to the seaside resort of Sandown, or westwards to the centre of Bembridge and onwards to the other small resorts of St Helens and Seaview. Forelands is a picturesque coastal area which seems tucked away and offers a relaxing retreat from the humdrum of life. From mid-September to mid-May a small riding stables within a few minutes walk offers riding lessons and also pony rides along the beach. In warmer weather there is a friendly cafe by the beach where cream teas and relaxed meals can be eaten whilst enjoying the beautiful view of the sea and the beach extending into the distance. A public house well known for its lobster is also within a few minutes walk.

Driftwood Cottage is a much loved family home which has been renovated and equipped to a high standard. It provides comfortable and attractive accommodation for four to six people, and is double glazed and centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a charming sitting room with two sofas, armchairs, a gas flame effect fire and flat screen television with Freeview and a DVD player; a fully fitted open plan kitchen equipped with a gas cooker and hob, plus eye-level grill, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine; an attractive dining area; a double bedroom with an adjacent shower room which has been equipped with a large walk in shower, basin and WC.

Stairs lead up to a large open plan room with dormer windows where visitors can relax. This room is furnished with sumptuous seating, a large flat screen television with DVD player and a futon which will sleep two additional guests. (There is plenty of space here so that the bed can be left opened out). Also on this floor is a twin bedroom with 2ft 6ins. beds suitable for children and a washroom with W.C. and basin. Central heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. A travel cot, high chair, stair gate and baby bath can be made available, as well as WiFi.

The cottage can be accessed from two sides. A lane leads around to the rear where there is a small garden and parking for two cars. At the front of the cottage there is a pretty fenced terrace with garden furniture and a parasol. A small gate opens from here onto a grassy area where games can be played. We felt very at home in this lovely house and the time went all too quickly. Although we stayed in winter it would simply be a fab location in summer, so close to the beach. We had everything we needed and were warm and cosy :)
