Property code: IC030

Attractive link-detached cottage offering a high-standard of accommodation for five guests, situated in a quiet location in the Dorset countryside, and yet just a short drive from Swanage.

This gorgeous Purbeck stone cottage is situated in a small hamlet in rolling countryside, on the outskirts of the hill top village of Kingston. There are stunning, open rural views from the cottage across fields to the downs, and from the pretty garden, uninterrupted views to the dramatic ruins of Corfe Castle - a magnificent sight as it stands majestically above the village. This is a superb walking and cycling area. From the cottage there is almost immediate access to footpaths and bridleways leading to Corfe Castle and the downs that link the coastal villages of Lulworth, Kimmerdge and Studland. There is easy access to the coastal path which is part of the renowned Jurassic Coast. The historic village of Corfe Castle is within a pleasant 20-minute stroll. The steam railway from here links Corfe Castle with Swanage. The sandy beach of the seaside resort of Swanage is only a ten-minute drive away and here, swimming, paddling, boating, fishing and diving can be enjoyed. The long, unspoilt, golden beaches of Studland are also nearby.

Chapel Cottage is a substantial link detached stone cottage in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which has been skilfully renovated to preserve its character, with exposed beams and large stone fireplaces. It has been furnished and equipped with great care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for five people in three bedrooms - double glazed and centrally heated. There is a combination of Purbeck stone and oak flooring downstairs with fitted carpets upstairs. The open plan kitchen is equipped with bespoke oak units with granite work tops, a Belfast style sink, electric cooker and hob, an AGA (winter time use only from early November to end of March), microwave, fridge freezer, slimline dishwasher, and combined washing machine/dryer. There is a pleasant dining area with a pretty window seat overlooking the garden, and a flat screen television; a spacious sitting room with comfortable sofas and chairs, a large wall mounted flat screen television and Blu-ray DVD player, two large stone fireplaces with wood burning stoves, and two bay windows with window seats overlooking the garden.

Stairs lead up to three bedrooms; a single room, a double room and a bedroom with a super king-size bed which can be separated to make twin beds. There is also a stylish bathroom with a freestanding bath, walk in shower and basin, plus a separate WC. A travel cot and high chair can be made available if required. Central heating and electricity is without extra charge. There is under-floor heating on the ground floor and an enclosed porch for wet boots and coats. WiFi internet is provided without extra charge - it is generally of a good speed, but it is a rural location and can be intermittent on occasions.

Chapel Cottage has a beautiful garden with a magnolia tree at the entrance. At the rear of the cottage there is a large paved terrace with garden furniture, a stone barbecue and extensive lawns with shrubberies. It is a wonderful place to relax with the most beautiful views. There is a pond and water features in the garden, so children do need to be closely supervised at all times. Two cars can be parked in the drive and an additional car can be parked immediately outside of the cottage. A regular bus service is within five minutes walk, and a shop within one mile. There is a public house which is good for meals within a two-minute drive or a walk across fields. Nearby places to visit include the Swanage Steam Railway, Monkey World and The Tank Museum. Bird watching can be enjoyed in Studland and at the RSPB site at Arne. There are great golf courses at Studland and Wareham.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request), 1 double and 1 single
  • 1 bathroom
  • Electric oven and hob, an AGA (winter time use only from early November to end of March) microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer

Fabulous cottage that exceeded our expectations. This was our first holiday in eleven years, and peace and quiet were desperately needed. We certainly got it with both the cottage and the location. Beautiful cottage, beautiful views, peace and tranquility - perfect. Thank you.

This is a beautiful cottage, well located and very comfortable indeed. We slept like logs! The garden was absolutely beautiful and well maintained with views down to Corfe Castle, magical in the evening! We would certainly book this property again. Our spaniel loved the Buddha in the garden.

Having grown up in Kingston I had longed to show my friends the idyllic Isle of Purbeck that I know and love. Chapel Cottage was like coming home and the stunning view and delightful cottage certainly sold the area to my friends.

Wonderful quiet cottage, with goods views. Lovely large well kept garden (which our two Jack Russells thoroughly enjoyed exploring). Will definitely visit again for a third time and probably a fourth.
