Attractive barn conversion property offering comfortable accommodation for up to six guests, in a rural hamlet within one and half miles of the centre of Shanklin where there is a pretty Old Village and a lovely sandy beach.

This charming stone cottage has been lovingly converted from a 17th century barn. It is one of a pair of cottages divided by a splendid central arch, leading to a large inner courtyard with pretty gardens and four additional cottages. Byre Cottage is situated in a quaint country lane in attractive countryside. This is a fantastic walking area, and footpaths lead from close to the cottage to the beautiful downs above Ventnor. It is also only one and a half miles from the centre of the seaside town of Shanklin, with its sweeping, sandy beach - popular for swimming and paddling.

Byre Cottage has been furnished and equipped to a high standard with oak floors and central heating, and exposed beams in the walls and ceilings have been retained. The welcoming sitting room is light and spacious, furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs, a television with Freeview, a DVD player, an open fire and French doors which open onto a patio at the rear. There is a well equipped, open-plan kitchen with oak units and a quarry tiled floor equipped with a ceramic sink, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer, plus an elegant dining area.

The cottage has three charming bedrooms; one double bedroom on the ground floor with an en-suite shower room, with a walk in shower basin and WC; one king-size double and one twin room upstairs, plus a family bathroom equipped with a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC. Central heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. The bath and shower rooms both have under floor heating, illuminated mirrors and top of the range Mira showers. There is an additional television in the upstairs double bedroom. A n inflatable single mattress can be made available. A complimentary hamper is provided for weekly visitors. Telephone and WiFi internet are provided.

The cottage has a sunny, enclosed garden at the rear where visitors can relax - there is garden furniture, an umbrella and a barbecue. A gate from this garden opens onto the inner courtyard and provides access through the arch, back to the front of the cottage. There is also an area of garden at the front of the cottage and parking space for two cars. Within one mile from the cottage is a post office, shop and telephone. A regular bus service runs half a mile away.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

It was a lovely cottage with a beautiful, secure and secluded garden. My wife also saw 2 red squirrels cavorting about, enjoying life, in one of the gardens in the hamlet.
