Within walking distance of Brighstone’s pubs, shop and gorgeous sandy bay, this quintessential English country cottage features exposed beams, rolling lawns and terrific views of the downs.

This charming stone cottage is situated on a farm, close to the picturesque village of Brighstone on the west side of the Island. The cottage is only a mile from the coast and it is a pleasant walk across the fields to the sea. Here, there is a beach where visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing and paddling. The sandy coves of Colwell Bay and Totland Bay are a short drive away. The cottage is in An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with some of the most wonderful walks on the Island. Paths can be followed to Brighstone Forest or to join the Tennyson Trail which crosses the downs and leads to The Needles. There are spectacular coastal views to be enjoyed on this downland walk.

Brighstone Brew House stands adjacent to the beautiful thatched 17th century farmhouse that provides a central focus for the 300 acre farm - home to cows, sheep and horses. The cottage is built of Island stone and brick and has been skilfully converted from an ancient brew house. It has been furnished and equipped with care in a traditional style. There are fantastic views from the lounge, kitchen/diner and twin bedroom across the garden or over adjoining fields. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms - one double and one twin room. There is also a bathroom with a bath, hand shower, basin and W.C. There is an additional shower room on the ground floor with a built in shower, basin and W.C.

The kitchen is a spacious room with fitted units, an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. Meals can be enjoyed in a pleasant dining area by a window. A washer/dryer and small freezer are provided in a separate utility room - there is also access to a freezer. The characterful sitting room boasts a large fire place that has been retained from the brew house and a wood burning stove, enabling visitors to enjoy the warmth of a real fire. There is a television with DVD player and Freeview, comfortable chairs and a sofa. A French door opens from the sitting room on to a raised stone patio and into the garden. Storage heaters with convectors keep the cottage warm. Electricity is provided at no extra charge. WiFi internet connection is available.

The cottage has a secluded fenced garden; a lovely place to relax and enjoy meals in the sunshine. There is also plenty of space for games to be played. Garden furniture is provided. (Visitors should be aware that there is a pond/stream in the nearby farmhouse garden, therefore children should be supervised at all times). Cars can be parked adjacent to the cottage. A bus service, village shop, public house and bistro/cafe are within a five minutes walk from the cottage.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

It was a lovely cottage to stay in with views of the hills and a beautiful garden. Access to the village and its excellent shops was very quick via a short footpath. If you enjoy walking it is an excellent choice as it is close to several main IOW walks.

Everything was perfect - location, cottage and contents, with friendly welcome from owners. No possible improvements can be envisaged. The only drawback was our ages(both 84),stopping us from passing stiles in local walks!!
