This converted forge provides everything you need for a memorable holiday, with super-comfortable accommodation complemented by an outstanding location in the Isle of Wight’s ravishing countryside.

Bridgecourt Manor Cottage is in the grounds of an old manor house in beautiful East Wight countryside, near the picturesque village of Godshill. The Manor House is surrounded by fragrant gardens which the cottage overlooks, along with a large duck pond. This is a wonderful walking area and visitors can follow footpaths immediately from the cottage to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill, or follow the course of the River Yar which meanders to the south coast of the island. Other footpaths lead on to the nearby downs. The sandy beaches of Shanklin and Sandown are within a ten-minute drive, as is the market town of Newport and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke.

Bridgecourt Manor Cottage is a stone cottage converted from an ancient forge which dates back to the 1600s. It provides attractive and comfortable accommodation for five people in three bedrooms. The cottage has been furnished and equipped in a traditional style and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a large open plan sitting room furnished with comfortable sofas, a television with Freeview and a DVD player, and a pleasant dining area. There is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice box and a small breakfast area. A freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer are also provided. There is access to a small single bedroom via the kitchen. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a bath, basin and W.C. Upstairs, there are two additional bedrooms; one double and one twin room, both with en-suite shower rooms with W.C.s and basins. Heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. A folding bed, travel cot and high chair can be made available if required.

There is a pretty fenced garden at the front of the cottage, with a lawn and a secluded patio housing garden furniture and an umbrella so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. Visitors have access to the lake in the grounds of Bridgecourt Manor which is home to a variety of ducks. Three cars can be parked immediately outside the cottage garden. Visitors can walk into the village of Godshill in ten minutes and here there is a village shop, restaurant, tea shops and two public houses, plus a regular bus service to Shanklin and Newport.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The cottage is ideally placed to visit all parts of the island. We found the property well kitted out and our host was most helpful in providing information about beaches and walks where we could exercise our three dogs. We were made to feel at home. Certainly a place we would love to return to if we visited the island again.

A lovely spacious cottage situated a few minutes drive from the lovely village of Godshill. Perfect for anyone with dogs, with a lovely secure garden accessible from both the kitchen and lounge. We found it difficult to source a property that took multiple dogs; we had four, but this was perfect for them with the large open plan lounge/diner. ThereRead more were lovely walks from the doorstep, both in the surrounding grounds and across fields into Godshill village without having to use the car. Hide

We had a really good time at the cottage and would return in the future. The landlady was so welcoming and helpful in every way. Unfortunately we didn't see the red squirrels but perhaps in the future we shall be able to. Ideal location for the rest of the island and for children. Thank you for a lovely restful holiday.
