Charming eighteenth century cottage sleeping four, located in the historic market town of Wareham in South Dorset, just four miles from the secluded beach at Shipstal, part of the Arne Nature Reserve.

This delightful property is located within walking distance of Wareham town centre, with its farmers’ market, shops, tea rooms, and charming independent cinema. There will be no time to get bored here, with so much to see and do within easy reach of the property, including the beaches around Poole harbour, a boat trip out to Brownsea Island, Monkey World ape sanctuary, Bovington Tank Museum, and Corfe Castle, all of which are within an easy fifteen-minute drive of the cottage.

On arrival at this charming cottage, guests are easily able to make themselves at home and relax after their journey in the property’s cosy lounge, with its deep sofa seating, warming wood burner, TV/DVD, and iPod dock. The spacious kitchen/diner next to the lounge, is a homely room with a dining table seating four, and a door which leads out to the garden. In the kitchen there is an oven, hob, and dishwasher, whilst the fridge/freezer, microwave, and washer/dryer can be found in a separate utility room. Steep cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor where there are two bedrooms. The first of these is a king-size room, whilst the second is pleasant double room. The bathroom has a bath, hand-held shower and WC.

Outside, there is a pretty, enclosed garden to the rear of the cottage which has a patioed seating area with garden furniture and a BBQ, bordered by shingled flower beds. There is for one small car which is accessed via a narrow entrance to the side of the property, as well as additional roadside parking nearby.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

A lovely cottage: two of us stayed with our dog. Brilliant. Wareham is an attractive historic town with many paths/trails for walking including on the common (3 mins from house, many paths) and the walls (Saxon!) ; from the East of the town and the quay. Good for wildlife: Arne RSPB reserve is near; buses and trains to Poole or Swannage are easy. HRead moreighly recommend Darlston country park near Swannage and Brownsea island (but no dogs allowed there). Dog and people friendly. V comfortable. Hide

It was perfect. The owners have clearly thought of everything. Lovely and warm. (we went in November) The log burner was easy to use. Well equipped kitchen although we ate out most nights in Wareham. Would highly recommend.

Barneys Cottage is the most welcoming cottage you can imagine. Its clean homely, warm, well appointed and really cosy in the winter time. Three is no better cottage and we have stayed in a few over the years. we will now look at our 5th year next year for the same time and same place THANK you to the owners and the housekeeper
