Families can make the most of Isle of Wight’s rural charm at this detached holiday home in Adgestone, around 2.5 miles inland from the beach at Sandown. Whether you’re visiting in summer when the landscape bursts into colour, or enjoying crisp winter air and frosty fields, this charming village is a fantastic escape from everyday life. You’ll find one of England’s oldest vineyards here – lovely for a relaxing tour and a taste of local wine with beautiful countryside views.

This one-level holiday home has oodles of space for everyone to unwind, starting with a cosy living room complete with a wood burner and Smart TV. A snug with its own Smart TV – plus a sofa bed available on request for extra guests – creates a second relaxation area. Cook and socialise in the modern open-plan kitchen and dining area, whose large dining table overlooks the garden. There’s a flexible king-size bedroom (which can be set up as a twin), a charming double and bunk room that kids will adore sleeping in. All three rooms are served by a fresh and modern family bathroom featuring a bath with shower overhead. Outside, you’ll love making the most of the spacious garden, which has a heated pool (April-September), comfy seating and a BBQ all ready for al fresco feasts.

When it’s time to explore the vicinity, head to the golden sands of Sandown (2.5 miles) or Shanklin (3 miles) are just a short drive away. The walkways and footpaths of Shanklin Chine (3.5 miles), which take in lush greenery and pretty waterfalls, are a wonderful way to while away an hour or two. The surrounding area is perfect for scenic bike rides and leisurely drives through rolling countryside, and with the island just 23 miles across, it’s easy to explore it all.

A stunning and comfortable house with everything you could need. The setting was wonderful. We sat every morning watching the cows and their calves pass by the fence at the end of the garden. We loved it and will most definitely be returning.
