For a rural escape with an equestrian atmosphere, stay at this elegant cottage 2 miles from Newport in the centre of the Isle of Wight. It’s nestled within a horse-riding centre, so you’ll be surrounded by animals including sheep and pigs – ideal if there are children in your party! There’s also an on-site playground and a bar/restaurant where you can get a bite to eat. It’s got space for up to six people, making this sweet accommodation ideal for a family or a group of friends.
Once on the grounds of the riding school, you’ll pass under a white archway to reach a sunny courtyard where all the holiday residences are located. You’ll enter into a reception hall which leads to the open-plan living area. Here, you can sink into the corner sofa and watch something on the Smart TV in the evenings. There’s a modern kitchen with an appealing colour scheme, plus a table and chairs for enjoying leisurely family meals together. The bedrooms – a twin, a double and a bunk room – are decorated in similar minimalist tones, with tasteful decorative touches dotted around. In mild weather, you can sit out and socialise with other guests in the shared outdoor space.
There’s a pub around 1 mile from the property, while within Newport, you’ll find lots of shops and restaurants. You may choose to play a round of golf (3 miles) or spend an afternoon at the impressive Carisbrook Castle (3 miles). If the sea air is calling, head to Ryde (5 miles) or down to the south coast where Sandown (7.5 miles) and Ventnor (10.5 miles) are both excellent options. For a fun day out the children will remember forever, we recommend Blackgang Chine theme park (10.5 miles).
