Cosy traditional stone cottage filled with character and charm in the seaside town of Swanage, the perfect base to enjoy fantastic coastal walks, surrounding historic villages and glorious beaches

Ideal for exploring the bustling Victorian seaside town of Swanage, this picturesque Grade II listed former quarryman's cottage dates back to 1750, and has been lovingly updated to provide cosy and welcoming accommodation for up to three adults or two adults and two children. A lovely holiday retreat for a couple or small family, this pretty Purbeck stone-built cottage makes a wonderful base for walkers and holidaymakers looking to explore this idyllic corner of Dorset, with the stunning Jurassic Coast and tranquil Purbeck Hills within easy reach.

The inviting lounge features a beautiful flagstone floor, an original fireplace and cosy wood burner, making this is a lovely space to relax in at the end of great day. There's also a charming dining space perfect for a romantic meal, prepared in the galley kitchen which is full of character. Narrow, winding cottage-style stairs lead up to the first floor, where you will find two light and comfortable bedrooms which share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. There's a bright and relaxing king-size room and a delightful bunk bedroom suitable for two children or one adult. Due to the age of the property, there are areas of restricted height, changes of level and low beams. Outside, there's a charming courtyard area – enclosed by a low stone wall – with garden furniture, providing a delightful spot for you to enjoy a morning coffee and admire the views across to the distant Purbeck Hills.

The popular seaside town of Swanage has a range of excellent places to eat and drink, and has a long sandy beach, traditional promenade and Victorian pier. Local attractions include Durlston Bay, Ballard Down, Dancing Ledge and the beautiful Durlston Country Park (all within 2.5 miles), or you can head inland by steam train to the idyllic village of Corfe Castle (5 miles).

What a delightful cottage, full of charm and very relaxing! Tucked away and peaceful, just what we needed! Not having visited Swanage for some years it was great returning. It was too far for me to walk to the beach, however for the fitter it would probably be ok. Wonderful going on the steam train again to corfe castle too!

Good value for money. A bit too far from the town centre than we normally are. Didnt realise I would hit my head on the low doorways as often as I did.

Pretty little cottage, perfect for a couple. Love the little front garden and view. Very comfy big bed & sitting room. Easy to walk into town or to the coastal path. Outdoor yoga by the castle on Sunday morning was a treat and so was sailing the for hire catamarans off Studland Bay.
