Set within the picturesque village of Harmans Cross, this charming Purbeck stone-built holiday home provides a lovely retreat for a family looking for a quiet spot in the heart of the Dorset countryside. This is a lovely base for exploring the breathtaking scenery and quaint villages of the Purbeck Hills, or for discovering the sandy coves and impressive cliffs of the Jurassic Coast. This charming hideaway also offers stunning rural views and provides ample space for up to seven guests.

 Entering this bright and inviting property, you will find the light-filled and tastefully decorated lounge which has plenty of seating, a traditional wood burner and a Smart TV – a perfect space for relaxing in at the end of a lovely day. There’s also a stylish open-plan triple-aspect kitchen/diner which is ideal for preparing and sharing your favourite meals. As well as a delightful dining area looking out onto the garden, there’s also a handy breakfast bar. Four sumptuous, fresh and tastefully decorated bedrooms can be found on the first floor – two king-size rooms (both with en-suite shower rooms), a twin and a single. Patio doors lead from the dining area to the large patio area with a lawn and outdoor furniture so you can sit back with a morning coffee or a glass of wine and admire the far-reaching views. There is also a charcoal BBQ available for guests to use.

From the picturesque village of Harmans Cross, you can catch a steam train to the pretty Victorian seaside town of Swanage (4 miles) or head inland to explore the ruins of Corfe Castle (2.5 miles). Local attractions include Putlake Adventure Farm (2 miles), The Blue Pool (5 miles) and Dorset Adventure Park (3 miles). The coast is within easy reach, with beautiful beaches to explore at Chapman’s Pool (4 miles), Kimmeridge Bay (8 miles) and Studland Bay (7 miles).

Our third stay at the property. Spacious and comfortable, quiet and very well equipped. Purbeck is a beautiful part of the world and the Dorset coast is beautiful. We will be back.

The house is well maintained with quality furniture, bedding and accessories. The garden overlooked a field which had deer on some days. The Swanage steam railway was easy to walk to in about 5 minutes.

This is a beautiful, spacious property, well equipped and immaculately clean. It is well situated for easy access to the local area/beaches and in a quiet street. It also backs onto countryside and has comfortable outdoor seating and a barbeque. My eldest daughter was thrilled with the size of the single bedroom as they usually tend to be small. The house was clean, spacious, comfortable, very well-equipped (an impressive utility room) and the outlook to the rear was lovely. Steam trains, buses, the Village playground (good) and footpaths were all virtually on the doorstep and both Corfe Castle and Swanage were only a short distance away. Fieldfare is a really lovely house, in a perfect location for exploring the area. The buses that run from the end of the road are really good value, cheaper than paying parking fees. Despite the weather, which was not kind to us, we had a lovely week and would definitely consider a return visit

This is a large spacious property with parking in a quiet spot with lovely views. It is comfortable and well equipped though you do need a car to get to facilities. Good to watch the steam trains and convenient for visits to Swanage, Wareham and the coast. We love it here and will return.

This is a beautiful, well equipped modern house. The house is very spacious and worked really well for our family group of four adults and two children. It is very close to Harmans Cross station where you can catch the Swanage train and next to the station is a childrens playground. Lovely property. Quiet, clean, spacious & ideal for two families. We had awful weather so it was a good base to return to. Convenient for all parts of Purbeck. We would recommend & will return.

Fieldfare was a great property for our family group which ranged in ages from 2yrs to 80yrs old. We loved the space it provided for everyone as well as the outdoor area with beautiful views over farmland and spectacular sunsets. The cottage is perfectly positioned between Corfe & Swanage with Studland Beach also close by. Perfection! This is our number one cottage in Dorset, now. Everything we needed in the kitchen was there, the rooms were spacious and the ensuite bedrooms were very comfortable. The west-facing patio was very extensive and provided with an excellent table and more padded chairs than we needed. Great views over the countryside. Very quiet area and wRead moreell located for pubs, beaches, nature reserves and the railway. Loads of space for parking several cars off road. We had an excellent family holiday! Hide
