  • A period clock tower sleeping two adult guests and finished with carefully chosen touches
  • An ideal location for enjoying a romantic couple’s break just a short walk to the seafront, sandy beach and coastal path
  • Overlooking the gardens of Ventnor Park, this is a fantastic alternative to a hotel stay, offering more space and privacy
Property code: IC145

Charming clock tower, part of a converted stable block, sleeping two adult guests in an interesting cottage in the pretty seaside town of Ventnor, a short walk from the popular sandy beach.

This attractive property overlooks the gardens of Ventnor Park and is within a ten-minute walk of the beach at Ventnor and also of the town centre. This is a spectacular coastal area, and a pleasant walk through the gardens leads to the small esplanade of Ventnor, a quaint seaside resort. The quiet bay is ideal for swimming and paddling. Visitors can also walk directly from the property to join the coastal path, and the walk westwards quickly leads to the nearby Ventnor Botanical Garden and the picture-postcard coastal village of Steephill Cove. The Clock Tower is part of the original stables of Steephill Castle. It has an ancient stone structure which has been carefully converted into five very individual cottages.

As the name suggests this property occupies the central upper tower and enjoys views across Ventnor Park gardens with the sea beyond. An external staircase leads up to a small balcony and the entrance to The Clock Tower which is completely self contained. The property has been furnished and equipped to provide comfortable accommodation for two people. The double doors at the entrance open directly into a large open plan sitting room with a Chesterfield sofa, arm chair, television with Freeview, Smart TV and DVD player, plus a wood burning stove. There is a welcoming dining area and a country style kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave and refrigerator with small freezer section.

There is a separate bedroom with a double bed and fitted wardrobe, plus a shower room with a walk in shower, basin and W.C. A wooden staircase leads up to a mezzanine in the upper part of the tower, however visitors should not access this area for safety reasons as there are low balustrades. The Clock Tower has a small, sunny balcony area and its own courtyard style garden at ground level with a table and chairs for enjoying meals outside. Visitors can stop to unload their car close to the external staircase leading up to the property, and longer term parking is available in the private open courtyard at the front of the properties - only a one-minute walk away.

  • 1 double bedroom

The location of the accommodation was fantastic, we found a coastal path which lead directly to the beach, via the ventor park. The location saved this holiday, if wasn't located so closed to the beach we wouldn't of enjoyed our holiday as much as did.

Location of the property was excellent, an easy walk to the promenade and shops. Both the cottage and the furnishings were interesting and quirky - we kept on noticing something new each day of the week we spent there.

This is a lovely character property for two. It has a very cosy feel and romantic with the log burning fire. If you walk through the botanic gardens to the left of the property you can walk along the cost to the Spy Glass Inn, which is easier on the knees than walking along the road. All in all, we had a lovely week.

We had a great holiday, the location is perfect for exploring Ventnor. We had the added bonus of the Ventnor Fringe festival for entertainments which was great. The location of the apartment is great and the interior is quirky. But, it would benefit from some upgrades particularly to the shower room as it is a bit tired.

A quirky property in an excellent location. Quirkinesses, however, should not be allowed to excuse several issues that should have been rectified by the owners.
