This lovely stone cottage is full of character. In centuries past it was a small stone sanctuary with spring water for priests making the journey from St Aldhelm's Head to Swanage along the Priests Way. It now stands in the grounds of a lovely large Purbeck stone house on the edge of Worth Matravers. Stone Barn has wonderful open views across fields to the sea. It is peacefully located at the end of a quiet lane with many scenic walks and cycle routes nearby. The sea at Dancing Ledge is within a 15-minute walk and the coastal path can be followed eastwards to Swanage and onwards to Studland. In a westerly direction the trail heads to Chapman's pool, Kimmeridge and Lulworth.
Stone Barn is largely open plan with a wide archway between the living and sleeping areas. It offers a cosy base for guests looking to explore the beautiful Purbeck countryside. The property has eco underfloor heating in the bedroom and living areas, an attractive painted wooden ceiling and exposed stone walls. Once inside, Stone Barn is all on one level. There is a king size double bed with drawer space and a small wardrobe, as well as an en-suite shower room with shower cubicle, basin and WC. The fitted kitchen area has a refrigerator with ice box, combination microwave, oven, electric hob, and slimline dishwasher. A comfortable sofa is provided, plus TV with Freesat and complimentary WiFi. The dining table is positioned by the French doors with views across the garden and fields, out to sea. Central heating and electricity is without extra charge.
Please be aware that there are three fairly steep stone steps to the front door. The cottage has a delightful enclosed south facing garden laid to lawn with mature plants and trees dotting the perimeter. An outdoor table and chairs, plus loungers and a BBQ are provided so that guests can relax and have meals in the sunshine whilst enjoying the wonderful open views towards the sea. The garden has an abundance of bird life and wild life with tawny owls, badgers, rabbits and pheasants being frequent visitors. One car can be parked just outside the cottage. The renowned Square & Compass public house is within a five-minute walk, as is the charming village pond and a pretty tea shop and restaurant.
