With views of the Purbeck Hills and dating back to the 18th century, this delightful holiday cottage is perfectly situated in a picturesque village in the heart of a popular walking and cycling area.

Hill View Cottage dates back over 250 years and has been skilfully renovated during 2017 to provide very comfortable and welcoming accommodation for five across three bedrooms. The cottage has been refurbished with quality and character in mind, and wherever possible, original features have been retained alongside newly fitted modern comforts. The cottage stands along a quiet lane with no passing traffic in the village of Langton Matravers. It has views of the Purbeck Hills from many of its windows and looks down into the valley, where in the distance, the charming sight of the steam train running from Corfe Castle to Swanage can be enjoyed. Langton Matravers itself, is a traditional Purbeck village with a real community atmosphere and has a popular public house, as well as a village shop and parish church located a short country walk from the cottage.

The cottage is set in the heart of a popular walking and cycling area, with the spectacular World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast just a twenty-minute walk away. Numerous footpaths and bridleways lead from close to the cottage. The iconic village of Corfe Castle with its picturesque thatched cottages, tea shops and famous castle is within a ten-minute drive. The seaside resort and sandy beach of Swanage is just five minutes drive, with the hilltop villages of Kingston and Worth Matravers even closer.

Hill View Cottage has an open plan living space with an attractive Purbeck flagstone floor in the sitting room and underfloor heating in the dining and kitchen area. Two comfortable sofas and an armchair are positioned around a wood burning stove which provides a beautiful focus to the room. A TV with Sky and DVD player are also provided along with books and games for guests to enjoy. The open plan kitchen is newly fitted and has incredible views over towards Nine Barrow Down. It boasts a fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher and ample space for food preparation, along with an electric oven and gas hob. The main kitchen worktop also has USB ports installed so guests can charge their phones and laptops with ease. The adjoining dining area has ample seating for five around a country-style wooden table. There is a downstairs cloakroom with WC and basin, as well as a very useful heated drying area with hanging space for coats and boots. A washing machine is also provided.

Stairs lead up to three lovely bedrooms including a master double with a king-size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, as well as views over the garden. The second bedroom has a double bed and chest of drawers with an original fireplace and views over the garden. The single bedroom has views across the surrounding countryside. There is a shower room on this floor comprising a walk-in shower, WC and basin. Central heating, electricity and WiFi are provided at no extra charge. A travel cot and high chair are available on request, as well as a single inflatable bed to enable two children to sleep separately in a double room.

Hill View Cottage has a pretty, south facing enclosed garden at the front of the property. On the rustic flagstone patio adjoining the cottage, garden furniture and a BBQ are provided to enable guests to enjoy meals outside. Set into the patio is a transparent cover which looks down into the original water well that used to supply the cottage where a couple of goldfish now make their home. Visitors can take in views of Swanage Bay from the garden and across to the Isle of Wight on a clear day. Bikes and outdoor equipment can be stored in the garden shed. Parking for three cars is provided in the gravel driveway at the top of the garden.  Please note that on the garden path there are changes in levels and uneven surfaces.

An hourly bus service linking Langton Matravers to Swanage, Corfe Castle, Wareham and Poole is located a short walk from the cottage. Nearby places to visit include the stunning RSPB nature reserve at Arne which is home to a large number of deer and is a wonderful bird watching area with various hides; the National Trust properties of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacey near Wimborne; the Swanage Steam Railway and golf courses at Studland and Wareham. Please note that the lane to the cottage is unmade so visitors should take care especially in low profile vehicles.
