Property code: IC026

Pretty stable conversion property sleeping two guests, offering attractive accommodation in the seaside resort of Ventnor, just a short walk to the beach and the well-regarded botanic gardens.

Castle Cottage is attractively situated within a pleasant ten-minute stroll of the beach of Ventnor and the quiet cove of Steephill. Ventnor Park is at the rear of the cottage, where paths lead through fragrant gardens to the Esplanade. These gardens also adjoin the Botanical Garden of Ventnor which is renowned for its mild climate and rare plants. The cottage is one of a small collection of cottages that have been converted from what was originally the stables of Steephill Castle - this used to be only a short distance away. A statement clock tower still stands above the cottages.

The cottage has been renovated with care to provide accommodation which is sympathetic to the style of this historic building. It has been furnished and equipped in an antique style and is centrally heated. Everything is on one level apart from the unique galleried, mezzanine area which is approached by a staircase leading up from the sitting room.

On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan sitting room with a feature fireplace, sofa, chairs and television with basic Sky package. There is a dining area and a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, refrigerator with ice box and washing machine. The double bedroom has French doors which open directly onto the courtyard and an en-suite shower room with W.C. There is an additional bathroom on the ground floor which has a bath, handheld shower, W.C and basin. A conservatory with attractive Victorian tiles provides a place to sit and relax. Heating, electricity and Wi-Fi is at no extra charge. The cottage has a sunny, south facing walled courtyard garden and furniture is provided so that meals can be enjoyed outside. There is a private, gated courtyard at the front of the cottages and a car can be parked beside Castle Cottage. Shops, restaurants a public house and telephone are a 10-minute walk away.

Lovely, comfortable cottage in great location adjacent to Ventnor Park. Short walk to cliff path to Ventnor Beach, Steephill Cove or St Lawrence. For those without a vehicle theres a bus stop nearby and Ventnor town centre is an easy walk away.

Clean and tidy, very good location and very quiet. Good to have parking and easy access. The interior decor does need updating, the shower is very disappointing, comfort is not great.

The positives were great location 10 mins walk to beach and Ventnor shops, but very hilly! Had all the sky TV channels and ample parking in private courtyard. The building was lovely with a lot of history. Cons were, bit dirty e.g. glasses the kitchen had dust on them, due to age of building there were lots of insects and cobwebs in the corners. WiRead more fi kept cutting off after 9pm for unknown reason. Loved the friendly "courtyard cat " who visited us each day! Gorgeous setting by Ventnor Park. Hide

Excellent location, with bars, restaurants, shops and beach all within a 15 minute walk. Property is located right next to Ventnor park. Would recommend The Royal Hotel as a treat for a meal.

Great location for Ventnor and coastal walks, Sky TV a bonus, usual kitchen basics provided. Sadly the matress on the main bed was uncomfortable and in our opinion needs replacing.

Excellent location and car parking. The cottage is spacious with a very nice conservatory area and a table and chairs in the courtyard. The history of the cottages is also very interesting. The accommodation, was in a good position for coastal walks and Ventnor. It had all the necessary equipment with SKY provided. The accommodation is an old cottage, so while clean, it is difficult to keep spotless due to the nature of the property. We did find parts of the property cold, especially on the first night so we had to keep juggling with Read morethe thermostat but the property was not efficient at retaining the heat but overall it is a lovely quirky old cottage. A lovely, interesting cottage in a great position in Ventnor. With spacious off road parking the town centre, beach, pubs, restaurants and other local attractions are all within easy walking distance. We stopped here for 2 weeks at the end of September, beginning of October and were warm and comfortable. A lovely cottage with many quirky features. The cottage is pretty well equipped and the setting within a quiet courtyard area is great. One or two updates required but, that said, we had a lovely stay.

We stopped at this property in May 2021 and on return lodged a formal complaint with Holiday Cottages. Just some of the issues were toilet pan not secured to the floor, mouldy shower curtain, broken shower fitting, disgusting and filthy flexible shower hose. Whilst changed during our stay, the list grew longer as the week wore on. There is photo evRead moreidence to support everything in the complaint.
