Sanjernin is a detached bungalow within a 20 minute walk of the lovely sandy beach at Swanage – a wonderful spot to swim or paddle with the sand gently sloping into the water. This small resort offers all the traditional entertainments of ‘Punch & Judy’, pedalos and candy floss. Fishing can be enjoyed from the attractive Victorian pier and there is also a centre for diving. The steam railway is a wonderful feature of the town and visitors can walk to the stations of Swanage or Herston to enjoy a trip to the picturesque village of Corfe Castle. Within a short drive there are several small Purbeck villages with charming stone cottages and traditional public houses for meals and local ciders. The coastal path is within a 15 minute stroll and there is easy access to nearby bridleways for cyclists. This is a wonderful walking and biking area with footpaths leading across the downs and along the coast from which there are panoramic coastal views. The nearby peninsular of Durlston is renowed for its bird life, flora and fauna – dolphins and seals can also occasionally be seen.
Sanjernin is a deceptively spacious bungalow which has been furnished and equipped with care to provide very comfortable accommodation for 4/5 in two bedrooms. The property is centrally heated and double glazed. There is a particularly attractive open plan sitting room with lovely sofas for relaxing, television/Freeview/DVD and a hi fi system. This room has patio doors which open directly into the rear garden and there are views of the Purbeck hills in the distance. There is a pleasant dining area and a well equipped fitted kitchen with an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave and fridge freezer. A washing machine is also provided. There are two spacious and attractive bedrooms – one double room with a double bed, and a second bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom equipped with a bath, hand shower, basin and w.c. (A single bed is also available in this room to enable it to be used as a twin/triple room). There is also a stylish tiled shower room with a walk in shower, basin and w.c. Heating and electricity without extra charge. Travel cot and high chair available.
Sanjernin has a walled garden at the front of the property with shrubs. There is a more extensive fenced and gated garden at the rear from where there are views of the Purbeck hills in the distance. This split level garden is paved and has garden furniture on the upper level so that meals can be enjoyed outside. There is a designated parking space for Sanjernin in the small lane at the rear of the property. Small general stores and bus service within a few minutes walk. Nearby places to visit are Lulworth Castle, Monkey World, The Tank Museum and several National Trust properties – including Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy.

The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsular of land located in the South of Dorset and is famous for its sandy beaches, beautiful countryside and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. The sea surrounds Purbeck on three sides and nowhere is for from the coast. Apart from the small town of Swanage, the Isle of Purbeck is made up of small rural hamlets and traditional villages.
The North side of Purbeck is dominated by a wooded and heathland nature reserve and where it meets the water of Poole Harbour it attracts a great deal of bird life. The East coast of Purbeck is known for the two long sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage but also for the limestone pillars at Old Harry's Rocks. Along the South Coast is the start of the Jurassic Coast which is characterised by impressive coastal formations like Dancing Ledge and Durdle Door but also for quiet coves and peaceful beaches for swimming.
Much of Purbeck has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the vast majority of Purbeck remains in the hands of nature. This is ideal for walkers and cyclists who are free to explore large areas of countryside and take in a number of wondrous locations.
The Isle of Purbeck has a number of events which take place throughout the year. To find out more about local events go to our Purbeck Events pages.
