Purbeck House is a beautiful, Grade II listed, stone property, dating back to the 1700’s with a large garden and views of the lovely Purbeck hills. It stands close to the centre of the picturesque village of Corfe Castle - almost at the very heart of the wonderful Isle of Purbeck with its rolling hills and sandy beaches. The village square and the majestic ruins of the castle are within an 8 minute walk. The village has a variety of good public houses, restaurants and tea shops plus an exceptional bakery, a village shop with lots of local produce, gift shops and a National Trust shop. This is a wonderful walking area and visitors can stroll directly from the house to join extensive trails leading to the coastal villages of Studland and Lulworth. Very pleasant walks also extend to the hill top villages of Kingston and Worth Matravers. This is a spectacular area which is part of the Jurassic coast and the nearby coastal walks offer panoramic views with a wide range of marine and bird life. Dolphins and seals can often be seen off the coast at Durleston and there are good facilities for bird watchers at Studland and also at Arne which is protected by the RSPB. The beautiful sandy beaches of Studland and Swanage are both within a 10/15 minute drive. Studland is an unspoilt area protected by the National Trust with almost a mile of beach. At Swanage you have all the traditional amusements of a small seaside resort including Punch & Judy, crazy golf, pedeloes and fishing plus facilites for various boating activities and diving. A well preserved steam railway links Corfe Castle with Swanage and provides a very enjoyable way of stepping back in time.

The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsular of land located in the South of Dorset and is famous for its sandy beaches, beautiful countryside and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. The sea surrounds Purbeck on three sides and nowhere is for from the coast. Apart from the small town of Swanage, the Isle of Purbeck is made up of small rural hamlets and traditional villages.
The North side of Purbeck is dominated by a wooded and heathland nature reserve and where it meets the water of Poole Harbour it attracts a great deal of bird life. The East coast of Purbeck is known for the two long sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage but also for the limestone pillars at Old Harry's Rocks. Along the South Coast is the start of the Jurassic Coast which is characterised by impressive coastal formations like Dancing Ledge and Durdle Door but also for quiet coves and peaceful beaches for swimming.
Much of Purbeck has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the vast majority of Purbeck remains in the hands of nature. This is ideal for walkers and cyclists who are free to explore large areas of countryside and take in a number of wondrous locations.
The Isle of Purbeck has a number of events which take place throughout the year. To find out more about local events go to our Purbeck Events pages.

One well behaved small dog welcome. We regret that a puppy under 12 months is not permitted.

Christmas 2011 will be one to remember, the cottage was decorated wonderful with a fabulous tree . My grandson also loved the gift left for him by the owner. Who also took care of a food delivery for us too. We would love to return for another Christmas. Would highly recommend it. The log fire and dining room made our stay very festive. Thank you for all the thoughtful details, the OS map we used all the time and the book of short walks was great. The only thing missing was the weather! We were so relieved to find the outside hose after a particularly muddy walk. Overall Rating: 5 Stars
