New Cottage; Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms |
This lovely traditional stone cottage is situated near the entrance to the picturesque village of Corfe Castle – a village renowned for its pretty thatched cottages, tea shops and public houses plus the wonderful ruins of the castle. Castle Reach is within yards of the hill on which the castle stands and the ramparts can be seen from the upper rooms. Within a two minute walk there is the central village square with its National Trust shop, specialist bakers, general stores with local produce and village public houses plus an excellent restaurant. Visitors can enjoy wonderful walks from the cottage – footpaths can be followed across wonderful downland to Lulworth and also to Studland with its miles of sandy beach. The small seaside resort of Swanage is within a 10 minute drive – this has a lovely sandy beach and here swimming, fishing, boating and traditional seaside entertainments can be enjoyed.
Castle Reach has recently been completely renovated and it has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It provides very attractive and comfortable accommodation for 6 people. Original features have been retained where possible and it has pretty leaded light windows. On the ground floor there is a wonderful combination of flag stone floors and oak flooring with fitted carpets upstairs. The front door opens into a spacious sitting room with two seating areas with comfortable sofas, a large flat screen television/DVD/Freeview and an open fire. There is a separate attractive dining room; a cloakroom with a w.c and basin and a beautiful bespoke kitchen equipped with hand painted wooden units, a hard wood oak worktop; range style cooker with a ceramic top, double oven and grill; a microwave; dishwasher, refrigerator. A washing machine and coat hanging space is available in a utility area.
There are three charming and spacious bedrooms. One staircase ascends from the kitchen to a lovely double bedroom with a king size, sleigh style bed and a separate bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and w.c. A second staircase ascends from the sitting room to two bedrooms – a beautiful double room with a King size bed, a charming twin room and a fully tiled shower room with a large walk in shower, basin and w.c. The cottage is centrally heated with electric radiators. Heating/electricity without extra charge. A travel cot/high chair can be provided.
Castle Reach has a lovely garden which extends for some distance to the side of the cottage. There is a barbecue area with garden furniture. The first area of garden is fenced and gated and this then extends to a further area with a pond and access to a stream. The garden at the rear of the cottage is not available for guests use as it slopes quite steeply upwards and there are unfenced drops. Castle Reach is particularly wonderful for steam railway enthusiasts as the line runs just beyond the garden above the cottage. The steam train is a attractive feature of the village and links with the seaside resort of Swanage. Two cars can be parked to the side of the cottage and an additional car on a paved area at the front of the cottage. Bus service within a few minutes walk.

The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsular of land located in the South of Dorset and is famous for its sandy beaches, beautiful countryside and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. The sea surrounds Purbeck on three sides and nowhere is for from the coast. Apart from the small town of Swanage, the Isle of Purbeck is made up of small rural hamlets and traditional villages.
The North side of Purbeck is dominated by a wooded and heathland nature reserve and where it meets the water of Poole Harbour it attracts a great deal of bird life. The East coast of Purbeck is known for the two long sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage but also for the limestone pillars at Old Harry's Rocks. Along the South Coast is the start of the Jurassic Coast which is characterised by impressive coastal formations like Dancing Ledge and Durdle Door but also for quiet coves and peaceful beaches for swimming.
Much of Purbeck has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the vast majority of Purbeck remains in the hands of nature. This is ideal for walkers and cyclists who are free to explore large areas of countryside and take in a number of wondrous locations.
The Isle of Purbeck has a number of events which take place throughout the year. To find out more about local events go to our Purbeck Events pages.
