Studland is 'An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' protected by the National Trust and there are over 4 miles of sandy beaches to enjoy. This is also a wonderful walking and cycling area. The coastal path from Studland, passes Old Harry Rocks and leads onwards to the small coastal resort of Swanage. Restaurant and public house plus beach cafe all within 5 minutes walk.

This lovely grade II listed stone cottage stands close to the centre of Swanage and is less than a 5 minute walk from the beach. Here the golden sand gently slopes into the water making it ideal for paddling and swimming. The Bakery Cottage is a lovely stone property which stands in the centre of the charming village of Langton Matravers amidst beautiful Purbeck countryside and within a few minutes drive of the sandy beach of the small resort of Swanage. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area with easy access to the World Heritage coastline. Footpaths lead almost directly from the cottage to the coast near Dancing Ledge. Visitors also have direct access across National Trust fields to nearby woodland and can follow footpaths along the valley to the pretty village of Corfe Castle.

This lovely Elizabethan stone cottage enjoys an attractive position just on the edge of the charming purbeck village of Langton Matravers and within a few minutes drive of the seaside resort of Swanage with its wonderful sandy beach and traditional entertainments. Langton Matravers still retains its village shop/post office and public house with meals, local beers and ciders within 5 minutes walk.
Burr Bank stands close to the centre of the charming traditional Purbeck village of Langton Matravers. There are wonderful open views over the fields and woodland to the beautiful downs across the valley. The house is within a few minutes’ walk of the handsome church, village shop, small museum and a public house. The village is also home to Putlake Adventure Farm whose alpacas can often be seen from the kitchen window.
This is superb walking country with hills, meadows, woods and heath; the sea at Dancing Ledge and the Jurassic coast path are just over a mile away across National Trust land. A fabulous network of footpaths and bridleways invites exploration of countryside and coast. There are also excellent routes for cyclists.
The small seaside resort of Swanage, 5 minutes’ drive away, is ideal for swimming and paddling. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of entertainments including boat trips, fishing, diving and steam railway. There is a good range of restaurants and cafes including a specialist chocolate café. Nearby places to visit include Corfe Castle, Monkey World, Kimmeridge Bay, Studland beach and the beautiful RSPB site at Arne.
Burr Bank has recently been renovated and skilfully extended to create a very attractive, light and airy house with lovely views of the Purbeck Hills from most rooms. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard and provides delightful spacious accommodation in four bedrooms with three bath/shower rooms. On the ground floor the fitted kitchen has an electric cooker and hob, microwave, slim line dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine. A tumble dryer is also provided. The separate open plan living room has a large dining area and a sitting room with comfortable sofas and chairs, a flat screen television/Freeview/DVD player and a real flame gas fire. More sofas are available in the garden room with its magnificent open views and beautiful sills made of the local Purbeck marble; French doors give easy access to the garden.
There are two attractive bedrooms on the ground floor: a spacious double with a king size bed, and a charming twin room. The two adjacent shower rooms consist of WC, basin and shower; one is wet room styled with dual shower heads and a level floor. Stairs lead up to a galleried landing with splendid views of Nine Barrow Down. Both the spacious double (king-size bed) and the small single room enjoy superb views of the hills and countryside. The beautifully equipped bathroom has a bath, basin, WC and floor to ceiling mirror.
Central heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. A travel cot and high chair can be made available. WiFi internet available.
Burr Bank has a delightful secluded fenced garden at the rear of the property with fine views. There is a terrace with garden furniture and a barbeque so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine and a small number of steps lead to a sunken garden with pretty flowerbeds and shrubs. The insulating 'green' roof over the garden room is planted with stonecrop whilst the south facing roof harvests sunlight with solar panels. Two cars can be parked in the drive and bikes can be stored under cover. The bus stop is just around the corner in the HIgh Street giving access to Swanage, Corfe Castle, Wareham and Poole.

Langton Matravers is a rural village with pretty stone cottages within a short walk of the sea on the Southern side of Purbeck in Dorset. This charming and traditional village has a historic church, attractive stone buildings and an excellent local public house which puts on local events including local music.
The coastline below Langton Matravers is well known for the dramatic landscape and abundance of wildlife. It is a popular spot with walkers who stop off while walking along the coastal path and some take the time to have a swim. There is a good local walk to Dancing Ledge where there is a man made swimming pool dug into the rocks.
It's for anyone who likes to live life adventurously - you don’t have to be a seasoned explorer to enjoy a Go Ape experience! Go Ape offers up to three hours of tree top fun. It’s a great way to get outdoors and have some fun. The Moors Valley GoApe Country Park is within a 40min drive of Purbeck and is a great day out for the whole family. goape.co.uk
The Isle of Purbeck is a peninsular of land located in the South of Dorset and is famous for its sandy beaches, beautiful countryside and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. The sea surrounds Purbeck on three sides and nowhere is for from the coast. Apart from the small town of Swanage, the Isle of Purbeck is made up of small rural hamlets and traditional villages.
The North side of Purbeck is dominated by a wooded and heathland nature reserve and where it meets the water of Poole Harbour it attracts a great deal of bird life. The East coast of Purbeck is known for the two long sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage but also for the limestone pillars at Old Harry's Rocks. Along the South Coast is the start of the Jurassic Coast which is characterised by impressive coastal formations like Dancing Ledge and Durdle Door but also for quiet coves and peaceful beaches for swimming.
Much of Purbeck has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the vast majority of Purbeck remains in the hands of nature. This is ideal for walkers and cyclists who are free to explore large areas of countryside and take in a number of wondrous locations.

Burr Bank is within a lovely walk of a number of Jurassic Coast sites and locations. A path running almost opposite the cottage leads down to the coast and from there one can visit Dancing Ledge. Dancing Ledge has dramatic scenery and there is a man made swimming pool blasted from the rocks to allow you to enjoy a sea water swim. Heading West along the coast takes you to Durlston Country Park with wonderful views over the sea and a chance to see sea birds such as puffins and cormorants.

Burr Bank is a recently extended bungalow and retains two bedrooms and two shower/w.c. rooms on the ground floor. The entry is fairly level (see details below) and the house is likely to be suitable for some less mobile visitors. It has large windows and good lighting which could help the visually impaired.
