Kimmeridge Beach PurbeckKimmeridge Beach is a beautiful rock and shingle beach on the Jurassic Coast with smooth rock shelves extending out into the sea.

There are many reasons why people visit Kimmeridge Bay. There is a clean and attractive beach, with opportunities to swim and paddle in the water, there are fossils, which emerge from the cliff and can be found on the beach or embedded in the rock shelves, and there is an underwater nature trail so you can swim around the bay and see the wildlife and plants that live and grow there.

Kimmeridge Bay is not far from Kimmeridge village and you can walk to the cafe/restaurant in Kimmeridge via the footpath. At the bay there is little in the way of refreshment but in the summer months there is an ice-cream van which also sells water. There are two public lavatory blocks behind the beach, one at the easterly car park and one at the larger main car park.

Access to Kimmeridge Bay by road using a car or motor vehicle is chargeable at a toll booth. It is free to enter on bike or foot. There is a footpath from the village that takes around 15minutes on foot.

Notices explain beach safety are found at Kimmeridge Beach. It is important to read about the local conditions and how to stay safe. Public toilets are available at several locations along Kimmeridge Beach.

Getting There: Kimmeridge is on the South coast of Purbeck and is reached by road from Corfe Castle. As you come into Corfe Castle from Wareham there is a road to the right at the foot of the castle. Follow this road and turn left after the village of Church Knowle. Kimmeridge is signposted from here. You can reach Kimmeridge via the coastal path from Kingston which is less than an hours walk.
