Purbeck has a great range of beaches and rugged coastal locations from the sandy beaches of Studland and Swanage to the dramatic beauty of Dancing Ledge and Chapmans Pool. Select one of the beaches below to view more information and photographs.
Studland Beach is the longest sandy beach in Purbeck and is over 2 miles long. Studland beach is popular for swimming, sailing and sun bathing. The whole area is nature conservation area administered by the National Trust.
The beach at Swanage is a long sandy beach which extends from the centre of Swanage all the way to the foot of the Ballard Down. There is a popular end of the beach with ammusements and cafes and a quieter end where you can get some sandy beach all to yourself.
