To See and Do in Ventnor

Ventnor Beach - The beach at Ventnor is ideal for swimming and sunbathing and is popular without getting too crowded. The beach is made up of a mix of sand and smooth shingle which makes a good surface for beach games or lying in the sun. Read more about Ventnor Beach.

Ventnor Botanical Gardens - The beautiful botanical gardens at Ventnor boast a large range of exotic plants which thrive in the micro climate between Ventnor and St Lawrence. The gardens can be reached via the coastal path from Ventnor Beach or there is a car park just behind from where you can walk down into the gardens. There is also a tea shop for refreshments or lunch.

Ventnor Ornamental Gardens - The gardens at Ventnor are up above the western end of the beach. These attractive lawns and flower beds are carefully managed and give a burst of colour almost all year around due to the very mild climate on this part of the Isle of Wight.

Bonchurch Beach and Village - The neighbouring village of Bonchurch with it's pretty village pond and quiet stretch of coastline is a pleasant walk from the centre of Ventnor along the coastal path. The village also has an 11th Century Church (Boniface Church Bonchurch) which is open to the public to look around.

Steephill Cove - The bay between Ventnor and St Lawrence called Steephill Cove is a wonderful gem for those who make the effort to find it. Tucked away without road access it is most easily reached by the coastal path from Ventnor or by walking down through the Botanical Gardens and following the signposts. The cove has two great places to eat locally caught crab as well as a small tea shop. The beach at Steephill Cove is a mix of sand and shingle and this sleepy little bay is a wonderful place to avoid the summer bustle and relax in a natural sun trap. Read more about Steephill Cove
