The South of the Isle of Wight has some of the most attractive and dramatic coastline on the Isle of Wight. Small bays dot the coastline and some larger beaches, such as the one at Ventnor, offer a more traditional seaside holiday.
Bonchurch Beach - Located furthest to the East it is a short walk East of Ventnor. The sand and shingle beach is a lovely quiet spot to enjoy a day by the seaside and to swim in the sea. A sheltered paddling area partly enclosed by rocks is popular with more timid bathers. Low tide exposes a number of rock pools which are popular with children. Ventnor Beach - This is the most popular beaches on the South of the Isle of Wight and has a sand and shingle beach. The water is excellent for swimming. Behind the beach are a number of cafes and restaurants. Find out more about Ventnor Beach
Steephill Cove - A charming little seaside village (with no road access) and a short walk to the West of Ventnor along the coastal path. Steephill Cove attracts a dedicated following and there is a friendly atmosphere about the place. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle and the sea is ideal for swimming. The beach is backed by a couple of cafes and an excellent seafood restaurant (only open in the summer).

Orchard Bay - Beautiful out of the way beach with sand and shingle shore. Located West of Ventnor along the coastal path.
Woody Bay - A small bay located West of Ventnor and near St Lawrence. This attractive bay is reached on foot from Ventnor or St Lawrence. There are no facilities or services so you will have to bring everything with you.
Castle Haven at Niton - Small and quiet bay with brightly painted boats and fishing huts.

Whale Chine - Amazing tucked away stretch of beach beneath Black Gang Chine. The beaches on this part of the Isle of Wight are very difficult to reach due to erosion. Make sure you have a good guide to get you there.
