More information about Shanklin

Shanklin Beach - The long sandy beach at Shanklin is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Isle of Wight. The fine light sand is ideal for beach games and relaxing under the sun. Swimming and playing in the surf are popular activities at Shanklin Beach but there are also some organised events and activities for children and families. Punch and Judy can be found on Shanklin Beach in the summer months.

Shanklin Old Town - At the south end of Shanklin is Shanklin Old town with the thatched shops and public house. Here you will also find a range of traditional little shops selling local produce, old fashioned sweets and seaside gifts.

Shanklin Gardens - At the south end of Shanklin, between Shanklin Old Town and the beach is Shanklin Gardens which are a lovely peaceful place to take a short walk. You can walk from the centre of town up to a cliff top view (where there is a tea garden) and look down over Shanklin Beach. You are able to join the Isle of Wight Coastal Path from here.

The cycle track is signposted from Shanklin station and is well marked all the way. - for more cycle routes visit our Isle of Wight cycling page.

Shanklin Coastal Path - The coastal path from Shanklin is a beautiful part of the route which runs right around the Isle of Wight.
