Spring Cottage stands in an idyllic location, within a 2 minute walk of the beach in the pretty seaside village of Bonchurch on the south east coast of the Island. The cottage enjoys beautiful sea views from most rooms and from its enchanting garden. Bonchurch is a peaceful village with a small shop, public house, good restaurant and two ancient churches plus a pretty pond which is home to carp, ducks and a variety of birds. This is a wonderful retreat standing amidst a large garden, adjacent to woodland and the wonderful estate of Osborne House – the Island palace of Queen Victoria. The Indian Summer House has a fascinating history. From the cottage quiet lanes and footpaths can be followed to the sea which is only ¾ of a mile away. The Old Cottage is a wonderful 18th Century, Grade 2* listed property. It is beautifully situated overlooking the sea, in ‘ An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', on the south coast of Island. St Lawrence is renowned for its mild climate and in the nearby Botanical Garden many rare and tropical trees and plants are grown. This lovely stone cottage is built of Isle of Wight Stone and has been converted from an ancient stone barn. Byre Cottage is situated in a small country lane in attractive countryside. This is a lovely walking area and footpaths lead from close to the cottage to the beautiful downs above Ventnor. Byre Cottage is only 1.5 miles from the centre of the seaside town of Shanklin with its wonderful sandy beach which is popular for swimming and paddling. This lovely cottage is very attractively situated in the charming hamlet of Norton Green on the west side of the island and within a 15 minute walk of the sea at Colwell Bay. Here there is a small sandy beach which is good for swimming, fishing and boating. The other bays of Totland, Freshwater and Compton are within a few minutes drive. This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This lovely stone cottage is situated in the small rural hamlet of Bowcombe which stands between the pretty village of Shorwell and Carisbrooke with its medieval castle. The cottage offers easy access to the small bays and coves on the south west side of the Isle of Wight. The larger sandy beaches of Ventnor and Shanklin are within a 20 minute drive. Sweet Brook forms part of a wing of a superb 17th Century farmhouse built of Island Stone and surrounded by 5 acres of lovely garden and fields. It is situated in attractive West Wight countryside and is within a 5 minute drive of the south coast of the island and the beach at Brook. There are several quiet and charming bays on this side of the Island. Sweet Brook is in ‘An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and footpaths can be followed to the nearby Brighstone Downs to join the famous Tennyson trail which extends from Carisbrooke, in the centre of the Isle of Wight, to the Needles on the western tip. The is the first school holiday of the year. The Isle of Wight enjoys a mild climate and the February holiday gives an opertunity to explore the Isle of Wight and enjoy the first signs of Spring.
Walking and cycling are popular past times in this holiday period and you will find many of the paths on the West side of the Island are already attracting a number of walkers. Many of the first signs of Spring come to the Isle of Wight earlier than else where due to a southerly latitude and areas with warm micro climates.
