The beaches on the East of the Isle of Wight are famed for their long stretches of soft golden sand and vibrant seaside atmosphere. Many of the beaches on the East side of the Isle of Wight are more commercial but you can still find somewhere to yourself if you choose.
Seaview - The premier beach resort on the Isle of Wight with a dedicated group of devotees who return year on year for the sandy beach, the pretty town and the friendly holiday atmosphere.
St Helens - Just inland from Bembridge but still within a short walk of the sea is the village of St Helens. The village is set around a village green and there are a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The beach at St Helens is a short walk from the village green.
Bembridge - The small village of Bembridge is a characterful and friendly place with a small number of good cafes, delicatessens and public houses. The coastline around Bembridge is a long beach and is popular with holiday makers and Islanders.
Brading - The small village of Brading is located between Seaview and Sandown. The attractive village has a selection of public houses as well as a wax work museum and the remains of a ruined Roman Villa.
Arreton - Located inland of Sandown and Shanklin, Arreton is a small village which is best known for the Arretton Barn centre and Arretton Manor. The attractive surrounding countryside, easy access to the whole Island and proximity to the beaches on the East coast make it an excellent location to base a holiday on the Isle of Wight.
Shanklin - Very popular seaside holiday resort with long golden beach and a pretty old town with boutique shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants.
Godshill - Small traditional village with small boutique shops and a historic church surrounded by thatched cottages. Godshill has an excellent location for walking on the Isle of Wight as well as visiting the beaches on the East and South of the Isle of Wight.

Springvale Beach - This is one of the beaches at Seaview and is just a short walk North West of the centre of Seaview. This very long beach is more popular at the Ryde end (away from Seaview) where there is also the remains of a Second World War fort. At this Ryde end of the beach there is also a shop and cafe for refreshments.
Seaview Beach (Seagrove) - This is the main beach at Seaview and is a wonderful stretch of sand for sunbathing, playing games and bathing in the sea. The town of Seaview is nearby but there are also some cafes and ice cream shops behind the beach. Read more about Seaview Beach
Priory Bay - This tucked away little beach is a hidden gem and can be reached from Seaview via the coastal path. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle with scattered rocks. You can almost have the whole beach to yourself even in the height of the season. A short walk around the headland takes you back to Seaview where there are refreshments.
St Helens - Shingle beach with ruined tower and pleasant atmosphere. An excellent cafe is located behind the beach where lunches and snacks are served. Read more about St Helens Beach
Bembridge Beach - Bembridge beach extends right around the headland and is extremely long and varied. Areas of sand are intermingled with stretches of shingle and rock and the whole beach is enjoyable for exploring. It is a short wander back to Bembridge where shops and cafes are in plentiful supply but there is also a beach side public house at the southern end of the beach called the Crab and Lobster. Whitecliff Bay - This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Isle of Wight and is a mix of sand and shingle. The long stretches of sand can be popular in the summer with tourists from the nearby holiday park but there is always space for a few more visitors. The water is popular with swimmers. Sandown Bay - The enormous bay at Sandown is almost 2 miles long and mostly sandy. It is very popular in the summer with holiday makers who mostly stay close to the town. Shanklin Beach - The beautifully kept beach at Shanklin is a popular holiday destination in the summer and many come to enjoy the sandy shore.
