5. When you reach Totland turn right on Granville Rd which takes you down to a cross roads.
At this point you have a chance to take Madeira Rd down to Totland Bay. Here you will find the remains of an old pier and a choice of cafes which by the sea. You can leave you bikes and take a short walk up the coast where sea birds are known to congregate.
6. Back at the junction go straight over onto Cliff Rd and follow it all the way to the main Alum Bay - Totland Rd. Turn right onto the main road toward Alum Bay and cycle along it for 800 meters to where there will be a hairpin turning to your left.
Here there is an optional detour to see The Needles from the old rocket testing site. Simply continue down the road to Alum Bay, through the Needles Park and through a wide gate up toward the National Trust run The Needles Battery. Continue up till you reach the rocket testing site which is free to enter and has amazing views of The Needles.
7. Back at the hairpin turning to the left take this turn towards Freshwater Bay and follow the road all the way till you see where you stated from.
