Mead Cottage is attractively situated on a 12 acre farm on the edge of the small rural hamlet of Alverstone in “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. This is a wonderful position for outdoor pursuits, walking, cycling, fishing and golf. In the village there are lovely water meadows and fishing ponds with hides for bird and red squirrel watching. There are many footpaths leading up on to the downs and towards the coast.

Two Mead Cottage is one of a pair of cottages which stand in the attractive rural hamlet of Alverstone and is less than a 5 minute drive from the lovely sandy beaches of Sandown on the east coast of the Island. The cottage is located on a small 12 acre farm which is home to horses, cows and a few free range chickens. The farm is in “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” and has a charming large pond which attracts ducks, moorhens and the occassional heron.

This charming thatched cottage dates back more than two hundred years and has been owned by the same family for generations. It is a character cottage, which has retained many of its original features. It occupies an attractive central position in the small coastal resort of St Helens overlooking the village green where cricket is played.
This lovely two bedroom cottage in Ryde, the largest holiday resort on the island, often referred to as The Gateway to the Isle of Wight. With its prominent position on the coast and quick easy links to the mainland, which by Hovercraft and Fast Cat passenger ferries is a 10-20 minute crossing, it is convenient for those without personal transport as there are also nearby bus services to all parts of the island and a train service to Shanklin.
West View is in Church Lane, a small quiet road opposite the all-weather tennis club, very central to the town, 4 minutes from the sea and close to miles of sandy beaches. The many attractions of Ryde are minutes away including the long esplanade with views across the Solent and here there is a marina, parkland, gardens, all weather swimming pool, boating lake, ten pin bowling centre, a bowling green and a sandy beach. There is a wide selection of places to eat which cater for all tastes and budgets, an array of small interesting shops as well as supermarkets, a Victorian Arcade, cinema and much more.
West View is a mews cottage built in 1850 and has been extensively modernised to offer a comfortable base for your holiday. The cottage is centrally heated for comfortable all year stays. The sitting room has French windows opening to the patio garden and is furnished with a leather 3-piece suite, coffee table, television/DVD player. There is a well stocked collection of books and DVDs to enjoy during those relaxing times after a busy day out. The open plan kitchen and dining area is fitted with Queen Anne range kitchen units and an oak table with 4 chairs. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, deep freezer, large capacity washer/drier, microwave oven, gas hob and electric fan assisted oven.
The two bedrooms have fitted wardrobes with plenty of storage. Each room has two full size twin beds which can be pushed together if desired, plus bedside table & lamps. Towels and bed linen are provided without extra charge. There is also a radio/cassette player and hair dryer. The bathroom is equipped with a bath, overhead electric shower, vanity unit with mirror, shaving point, WC and fan. It has views over the tennis courts to the sea.
The patio garden is fully enclosed and a great sun trap. It can be accessed from the sitting room and kitchen. It has a table, chairs and umbrella. It is a wonderful spot to enjoy your meals or maybe just a drink. There is also a covered area providing safe storage of bikes, etc.
The Fishbourne car ferry port is within a ten minute drive of the cottage. The nearest public car park has a pedestrian exit into Church Lane and the cottage is only fifty feet away. Parking is free from 6pm until 8am. There is a charge for parking outside of these hours but a Tourist Parking Permit can be purchased which covers all council owned car parks and metered on road parking across the island. West View Cottage at Ryde is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 14:00 and the normal departure time is 10:30. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 3rd March 2018 to 22nd March 2018, 14th April 2018 to 26th April 2018, 6th October 2018 to 18th October 2018 and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

The North of the Isle of Wight is a wonderfully varied location with beautiful coastal areas and historic sites. The main towns in the North are Yarmouth in the North West, Gurnard and Cowes in the centre of the Northern coastline, and Ryde in the North East. There is a sandy beach at Ryde, a shingle and sand beach at Gurnard and a long shingle beach at Cowes.
The principle town here is Cowes where a vibrant sailing scene exists and culminates in the yearly Cowes Week festival. Yarmouth also enjoys a strong connection with the sea and has its own festival of Gaffers which attracts a large number of brightly decorated boats.
The inland areas of the North side of the Isle of Wight are known for their beautiful countryside. The estuary at Wootton is an important area for birds and views across the estuary are often enhanced by a number of bird species. Footpaths and cycle tracks are numerous in the area and a great way to see the beauty on the North of the Isle of Wight.

Two small/medium dogs are welcome and the back garden is walled. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the cottage and not to allow them to foul the garden. Puppies and also dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date.
