It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. The cottage is excellent for cyclists as there is access to a network of cycle paths directly from the farm and arrangements can be make for the storage of bikes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. Ferries can be booked for you at greatly discounted prices.

Westview stands in the centre of the small rural village of Shorwell on the south west of the island and is only a 5 minute drive from a quiet beach at Brighstone. This lovely Grade II listed cottage is adjacent to a beautiful 11th century church and a charming old public house with a large duck pond is within a 1 minute walk. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and this is a wonderful walking area with easy access to the Tennyson Trail. The market town of Newport and the impressive medieval castle of Carisbrooke are within a 10 minute drive.

Westview is a large stone cottage which dates back to 1750 and adjoins a similar property. It has been sensitively renovated to retain original beams and fireplaces. The cottage has been equipped with care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for 8 people in 4 bedrooms. It is furnished in a traditional style and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a very spacious open plan kitchen and attractive dining area. The kitchen is equipped with fitted units, an AGA, electric hob, electric cooker (with a double oven and grill), microwave, and dishwasher and fridge freezer. (Please be aware that the AGA is only on during the colder months of late October to March). There is a separate utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer plus a cloakroom with a W.C and basin. The sitting room is also a lovely spacious room furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. It has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. Here visitors can relax in front of a real open fire. There is also a flat screen television/Freeview/DVD player. Three steps lead up from the sitting room to a light and spacious twin bedroom. Upstairs there are 3 lovely spacious bedrooms – one double room with king size bed, a TV and en-suite shower room with W.C and basin. There is a second double room and a twin room plus a family bathroom with a bath, W.C and basin. Central heating and electricity provided at no extra charge. Wooden cot (sleeps infant up to 18 months) or cot bed (sleeps child up to 3 years) and high chair can be made available. Telephone provided and WiFi can be made available.

The cottage has a small landscaped seating area at the front of the cottage where visitors can relax whilst soaking up the last sun of the day. At the rear of the cottage there is a small paved courtyard with a barbecue and garden furniture. There is a playground in the village for young children and also a playing field. Two cars can be parked in the driveway at the side of the cottage. Visitors are occasionally asked not to park here when there is a wedding in the church as the drive then provides a secondary access to the church. Regular bus service and village shop within 3 minutes walk.

Westview is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Westview. Westview is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:30 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 30th October 2017 to 17th December 2017, 6th January 2018 to 8th February 2018, 17th February 2018 to 22nd March 2018 and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

The West of the Isle of Wight is best known for its unspoilt nature and dramatic coastline. The areas is far less commercialised and the many of the beaches can be enjoyed almost to ones self.
